Comment:
Took course online. You have to buy a book he wrote and that book is difficult to read. The regular course book is not too bad. One long paper that you can do as a team, the test are all essay and pretty tough. His email notes each week were the best part of the class, direct and understandable. Seemed personable through the emails.

His incoherent rambling during class does nothing to help you with testspapers except letting you know when they are due. You are best off saving your time and reading the textbook cover to cover before the midterm and final. Not a single one of the questions on the final were covered in class with any depth or clarity.

Whoever wrote positive things about this class is a nerd. this class is RIDICULOUSLY hard. almost everyone is doing terrible. ALLLLL reading. He's a nice guy and he is always willing to help but the class is extremely difficult. If your good with politics you'll be fine but dont take this class as a gen ed. its by far my hardest class.

Don't believe all of the positive ratings he has on this site. Despite this being a 100 level class, you are tested on over several hundred pages of reading, no direction on what will be tested, and grades harshly. I talked to the other students in the class, and almost everybody had C's and D's. Nice guy though.

a real tough class to get through, and it's completely about the material. Roberts is a great professor, really does his best to make this "dry" material come to life. I would reccommend political research I with roberts any day of the week.

Rudolph is knowledgeable and his sarcasm is entertaining. You need to read for the tests because he doesn't cover every aspect of the material during lectures.

Great teacher, a little hard to understand the lectures or where he is going with them. Get the general idea of what he is talking about and you'll be fine. There is a lot of reading but it's pretty interesting. Definitely do the reading because his tests are short answer and essays. You have to know your stuff. Fun class though!

How could you complain about Dr. Rudolph. He is the gem of the political science department. A funny man who knows everything. OF COURSE you have to keep up on your readings, we are in college for crying out loud. I can't believe how anyone could complain about this man. Read, work hard, and enjoy the class.

Very intelligent man, well-traveled and knows something about everything. Reading will make a 2 letter grade difference on tests, but the readings are very easy and not bad. His lectures are very interesting if you like politics and he is always game for answering questions or having a brief discussion... <3

Nice guy. Lectures are almost always pretty interesting...a little hard to take notes sometimes though. Seems to have traveled everywhere, which makes the class that much more interesting. KEEP UP ON YOUR READING, and the tests will be a lot easier. Option to write a term paper to lessen the weight of the 3 exams.

Very interesting teacher, but lectures are very dry. You jump from one subject to the next and it is very hard to take notes. There is a midterm and final that are both open book. But believe me you better keep up with the reading or u will be screwed when tests show up. Research paper requirements were very unclear and graded ridiculously hard

his teaching style is more for GRAD students and current textbook is scattered everywhere, doesn't help much. interesting class but makes it boring b/c of voice monotony and beats around the bush when answering questions. never straight forward.

Dr Rudolph Loves death and dying!! For instance a girl in the class asked him about how different governments deal w/ issues in other countries. Rudolph's answered talking about people being assassinated, thrown in mass graves and in brass bulls. If you love torture as much as I do this class is4u
