Comment:
I'm sure Professor South is good at teaching his Philosophy classes, but he should not be teaching Core. There was absolutely zero structure to every class and the grading criteria was extremely subjective. Both Professor South and students were confused every class as to what the expectations were. Unrelated, boring lectures every class period.

I had him for my freshman seminar. We did no work just sat and and had discussions. He also gives out candy. I recommend for any freshman taking a seminar.

I had him for a HOPR seminar about Philosophy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We talked about interesting stuff, but he was kind of weird and never made eye contact...he stared at the ceiling. He's a nice guy and all, but I don't know if I would recommend him. Not a lot of work, a lot of class-run discussion.

Seldom made eye contact or called on students with questions, and did not relate philosophy to education. Who ever heard of a multiple-choice test in philosophy -- it's not about rote memorization; it's about application of philosophy to pedagogy
