Hands down the best prof I've ever had. Interesting, clear and funny. Take a class with him if you can and are interested in Anthro. He really knows his stuff.

Toth is probably the biggest egotistical & **** man I've ever met. If you really pay attention, which is difficult because he is rarely clear or specific in his lectures, he somehow manages to degrade women in one way or another each class (ex: telling us to just skip an entire chapter (divorced women) of a book which we were writing an essay on.

Save yourself the aggravation, don't take his class. In the end, it's an objective test, two papers, and an essay final... most if not all graded by the TA (hopefully you get a good one). Otherwise, he rambles and scribbles things that honestly don't matter on the board. He thinks he's funny, but he's not. He thinks he's teaching, but he's not.

ummmmm this professor sucks. there's no nice way of saying it. he doesn't make any sense. he just repeats himself over and over again. each lecture is pretty much the same. haven't learned a thing from him. and i'm pretty interested in the material, but he SUCKS!

He's funny, but kinda boring. I wasn't so interested in the class (it was a core requirement for my major, so that was probably it), but it wasn't horrible. Do the readings and make an effort with assignments and you'll be fine!!!

Manic ego-maniac who rarely makes sense. A pretty easy grade though, if you can stay awake.

at first i thought it might have been the class material, but looking at the ratings of others who have taught this class it must have been him. he just sucks. he's not as bad as people make him out to be and the grading isn't that hard, but i definitely wouldn't say that i learned a lot or that i had any amount of fun.

this class is insane. nobody ever has a clue what hes talking about. his lectures have absolutely no relevance to anything. i can honestly say i have been in this class for almost a whole semester & i havent learned a damn thing yet. by far the worst professor i have ever had. luckily, the work load isnt bad & the TA grades easy.

worst professor i have ever had. he comes in unprepared and will admit this to you. he also doesnt talk about anything in his lectures. he is extremely egotistical and this class was seriously painful. by far the worst professor and the worst class i have taken at NEU.

Highly dissapointed that it had nothing to do with mythology, aside from that, he was a good teacher and easy to understand. Did a good job of outlining tests.

Boring awful professor for a boring awful class. His voice is REALLY annoying. He goes off on strange tangents, and would be incredibly pleased if the class staged a coup against him... would be a great social movement. Weird guy - avoid him if possible.

Lectures have nothing to do with anything. You would learn more by reading things on your own. More concerned about his opinion than the right answer. Not a bad guy, but a horrible teacher. If you want to take this class, take it with another professor.

the key to doing well in his classes is to write your papers based on the notes from class.

great guy and very funny... however confusing at times. Spends most of the class talking about something that is not directly related to the class. Papers were a pain in the butt to write, but if you follow the format you'll do fine.

A standup guy, maybe less than standup professor. At time it is unclear whether he has a mastery of his field or material, though he is quite the Middle Eastern/Islam historian. Sometimes, suddenly in class, it may appear that you are just as qualified as him after actually reading the required text
