It's extremely hard to master such huge amounts of information in three months. Took a third year course with him, and it was much more complicated than the fourth year one with another professor.. He's very demanding, not helpful, can't get into your situation at all and evaluates your works with the lowest grade possible. I do not recommend him.

Useless to even approach him if he allows you for extra help. Not at all welcoming to answer your questions and concerns properly. Made the biggest mistake to take his class. Course itself was very easy which he made difficult by confusing students during lectures and notes. NEVER TAKE HIM!!!

The professor is very dedicated in his field and his dedication is shown through his lecture. He deliciously crafts the lecture so students won't drift off to sleep in class. He encourages participation and answers all the question during lecture on matters you desire to probe and know about. Linguistics department need more professors like him.

Knowledgeable, entertaining, dedicated, a bit pretentious, but that doesn't make him less approachable. Took 2 crses w/ him a few yrs ago, enjoyed & participated in every lecture. Both times worked my b#tt off 4the final paper but no prof has ever made me feel more underappreciated. Lucky, ended up w/ a B, but to this day I believe I deserved more.

Good prof. Not the easiest in terms of marking but there was a grader. Questions on assignments and tests are a bit tricky sometimes so be careful with that. I suggest asking questions in person instead of the forum. Overall he's nice, has work graded quickly and provides handouts. The textbook was generally useless though.

This professor is seems personable on the surface but is very alienated from students. He's got an antiquated perspective on morphology. His handouts are terrible. He creates artificial data for analysis that doesn't appear in real life just to be more difficult. All around terrible.

An excellent and a dedicated professor who is very entertaining and very informative! He makes the subject materials very interesting! He sets a high standard for students and does not indoctrinate you with the answers. Instead, he wants you to approach the answer in a logical manner. Overall his beautiful presence makes Linguistics wonderful!

A very hardworking, organised and dedicated teacher. Would explain everything over and over again till you get it right. Be attentive in the class. The text book was a major disaster. For your benefit read the "Introduction to Morphology by Lieber". Work hard throughout the course. He appreciates hard work.

I don't really like the way this professor teaches. Half way through his lectures, I felt like falling asleep and he's not very helpful at all when you ask him a question or e-mail him for help. He expects you to understand the work.

Good Prof, good class. Too many readings though. If you have an intro to sociolinguistics class under your belt (even the 2nd year for non-majors), this class will be a breeze. A's aren't as hard to get as everyone says. Tests were easy. Just be more creative on papers and write systematically. Overall nice prof, but a bit shy outside of class.

One of few profs who will not bore you to death during lectures. Respects students, very organised and knowledgeable, will answer any question with helpful examples and sometimes relevant personal anecdotes :) Fairly easygoing with workload and deadlines, but his odd by-the-book grading criteria makes an A almost out of reach.

This prof needs to prepare his lectures better and have a more positive attitude. He always finds a way to turn something easy into something difficult and is VERY hard to please. Don't expect to get an A! Tests had things that were not discussed in class NOR in the book! Marks based on arbitrary criteria on a checklist instead of individual merit.
