He was useless. Read straight from the text, got facts wrong, the midterm/exam had high-mark questions about useless and often unrelated information, and to top it off, he made less than subtle advances towards me (I'm female). Not only would I never take another of his classes, I'd cross the street if I saw him coming.

he is a great guy! I loved going to his class. The people who complain about all the notes should think about the fact that they enrolled in a history course and it is expected that they will have to take a huge amount of notes. he is covering the history of around 5 seperate countries and cultures so there is a lot to know!!! Give Jamie a break!!

Most certainly an idiot who shouldn't be teaching university. If you ask him a question he has to refer back to his notes, but somehow expects you to remember all the pointless information he gives you. Also misinformation at times (be careful if you don't find reference to his opinions in the text!). Never taking another class of his.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Do not take this course with this professor! Do not pay $70 per class to have him read to you from pages of notes and not be able to answer any questions from students! Tests focus on stupid little details and useless facts. You will take nothing away from this course that will help you in history! Worst experience ever!

Great prof if you listen and know a little bit of the subject matter beforehand, if not you'll have trouble. Detailed notes and attendance are a must, as well as reading the book. Do that and an A isn't too hard to achieve. Plenty of people have failed his course by not taking detailed enough notes or reading the book.

First of all, I dont know where this guy got his PhD, probably from some stop on the side of the road. This class was the worst experience of my entire life, way worse than teething as a child or the time my basketball got run over by a car. Gives random facts everyclass and asks you then on his tests.WHATEVER YOU DO DONT TAKE ANY OF HIS CLASSES!!!

It was like a high school class all over again. He commands zero respect out of the class. It was a total free for-all. The material itself is incredibly easy. He once accussed me of plagiarizing some paper simply because my essay writing abilities were well-honed, he was a total prick over the whole affair. Take it as an elective if you have to.

Easy course. He marks papers easy - just make a loose tie to something Scottish and you get a good mark. Very strict on reference format, though, so don't bollock it. Exams are a bit nonsensical. His review sheets are often too long. Be prepared to be asked useless trivial information.

Always willing to help anyone who asks for it. As far as taking notes goes, anyone who is taking a course about history should be prepared to take lots of notes. He moves fast, but that's the way it is in these types of courses. He's a great teacher that will clearify if you ask him to.
