Comment:
EECS 320 is a class that a lot of people don't get excited about taking, but Philips did a good job teaching it. It is not as light of a load as people sometimes make 320 out to be. No matter who you take it with, the homework is always a struggle. I hated the material, but I was glad I chose to take this class with him.

Nice guy with a pretty straightforward way of teaching. Class wasn't super interesting and his lectures were often choppy and dry, but overall a good prof. Very helpful in OHs

He is really good and nice. Very helpful if you use his office hours. The Photovoltaics course (ENGR 100-400) is very interesting.

This was Jamie's first year teaching 100, and unfortunately he didn't do very well. He was forced to introduce too many topics, making the new material difficult to understand. The class made me disinterested in solar energy.

Prof. Phillips is simply the best teaching professor in the EECS department. He will approach seemingly complex, abstract topic from multiple angles for students. He is very approachable after class and in OH. I always wish other professors throughout the college teach like him, and consciously care to improve teaching styles like he does.

Undoubtedly the best professor for EECS 215. Take his class at all cost. Not only does he go through the material at a steady slow pace, but also explains it very clearly. He will make your life a lot easier. Highly recommended for this introductory class.

Prof Phillips does a great job teaching the class, and makes sure that you understand the material, gives ungraded quizes that count as partipation points to judge where the class is on the material.

Extremely easy to follow, clear, and helpful. I had Phillips for both 215 and 320 and he has made the material understandable in both classes. He also has a great sense of humor which makes the material less boring.

He is one of the best professors at the university. He was great in 215, and is equally great in 320. He's very helpful, and it is obvious that he's quite knowledgeable on the subject. If you are taking 215, DO NOT TAKE WITH MCAFEE! Take it with Professor Phillips and you will have a much better time and actually learn the material.

I've started going to this professor's office hours and lectures because he's the best at teaching EECS 215. Explains the material clearly, is not afraid to make up examples on the fly and solve them. This is what all teachers should be like in the EECS department - I'm hoping the University figures this out soon.
