Jan is so nice, great prof! She is always willing to help and wants nothing but the best for her students. The text is used a lot during class. She will explain to you if you are doing anything wrong in your writing and sometimes will give you the chance to do your paper over again to bring up your mark. I love Jan, one of the best Eng prof's!

Text is very important for the class. Jan is great, she is knowlegeable and makes a variety of subjects interesting. Provides good discussions and feedback, your writing will improve after one of her classes. She is always willing to talk and help, gives interesting writing topics and adequate time to complete them. Would reccomend her to everyone.

Dr. Curtis is awesome. Little bit of a tough marker, but fair. Gives really good feedback and you will learn so much from her. Her voice is amazing; and she reads clearly. Nothing but good to say about her. She doesn't expect participation, but its accounted for in the final grade. Just give your thoughts and opinions. Good luck !!

Out of 8 semesters at CBU, I was with Jan for 6. She's kind, intelligent and passionate about what she teaches. She enjoys hearing students' ideas and interpretations. Willing to give extensions and meet during office hours and give whatever help you need. Gives good feedback. Keep up with the readings and you should be fine. A wonderful prof.

Jan is an absolute dream to work with. She is insightful, evocative, and very intelligent. She is one of the few professors who actually enjoys when a student has an idea other than hers. She makes you work for your grade but it is well worth it because in doing so you will write informed and inspiring essays you never thought would come from you.

Jan made the class bearable. When she reads, you instantly fall in love with her voice. The material was boring, but she made the class interesting. She will tell you straight up what is on the midterm and the final, allows you to take the text into the exam with your notes in it! Go to class. If you miss it, you will be lost.

Jan is super friendly, right from the start i found her easy to get along with. She is very helpful in explaining essay topics and does whatever she can to make papers a little easier to write. Don't hesitate to ask her anything, she gives extra time to pass in things if needed and overall a fair marker; just go to class &you'll do fine.

fantistic prof! she reads poetry aloud in class sometimes, and it gives me goosebumps when she does. she is an extremely kind professor who has so much enthusiasm for the material she teaches that she makes her students love it too! i would definately take another class with her in a heartbeat, and highly recommend her courses!

I hate english and I`m never taking another english course in my life. Going from 90`s in high school to 70`s in her class while working my ass off was no fun at all. The only thing interesting about her class was her reading, she tells stories so well - but other than that, take someone else.
