She's lost her passion for teaching and is therefore very, very boring. In her defense... her tests are easy! PIck another prof if possible, she's not worth an easy A.

Wow, really tough prof. She looks at the level you come in with and grades based on how much you improve. She pushes you to work really hard, but you can learn a ton about your writing skills and from the reading

This class was quite simple...and Gross just made it interesting. She was always very lenient when it came to turning in assignments (i.e. when you may have been absent). If you needed help with anything, she was always ready and willing to give you help- especially with the literature assignments which will make your head spin-theyre just annoying

Comment:
Professor Gross is usually interesting, and is very nice, flexible, and understanding. This class was essentially a review of AP French, which made it easy, but more in-depth study of literature and movies kept the class interesting (seriously!). Tests were not too difficult, and homework was infrequent or even (for the workbook) basically optional

She seems to have lost her passion for teaching and does not seem to care one way or another about students. Hard but not constructive in class. Just pick a different class if you can help it.

An incredibly helpful, compassionate professor. Always available outside of class, and always willing to let you rewrite compositions. I was very happy that she conducted the entire class in French. Class was mainly discussion, which lagged at times. Exams and grading is not at all unpredictable, and expectations are clear. Highly recommended!

she is a very sweet lady but her class was pretty boring. the texts we read were fascinating but she wasn't very good at leading discussions about them. she helped me improve my reading, speaking and writing skills, but after spring break there was a huge jump in what she expected from papers- and little reason for the transition that i could tell.

very nice professor, but seemed very distracted. interesting reading material, but not very engaging in class. she's sweet, but her class was not very good and her grading was, at times, unreasonably arbitrary and tough.

Creates a nice, hommy feel. Nods too many times to (stupid) responses. Materials' difficulty can be deceiving when tests hit you. Essays graded VERY tough. Exams are very time-stressing. Not an easy A, but certainly hard to go below a C.

She's a very nice lady, just not terribly engaging in the classroom. She's very helpful if you seek her outside of class. Classes are interesting with good material.

Makes class artificially hard. Nitpicky paper-grading is unnecessarily discouraging. 3rd semester French should be about learning the language and grammar, not about analyzing the literature yet.
