Jan is a very sweet professor. She genuinely cares for her students and wants them to succeed. There is a lot of reading and writing but it is a writing class. She's not that hard of a grader. So it's an easy A if you actually do the work.

Jan is an EXTREMELY kind and genuine person who loves what she teaches and cares about students. The class had a lot of writing but it was a writing class after all... Was always helpful and willing to be flexible.

She's quite a bit of work. She gives you a few classes to miss, which is nice. Her assignments can be unclear and long and annoying, but you won't struggle to make an A. There are better English teachers, but she won't kill you.

Best English teacher I have ever had. Great work ethic, fun to be around, uses more of a "work completed" grading scale on MOST assignments. Dislikes actual grades. Understands real life issues people will encounter, unlike many other instructors.

This class was a breeze. An easy 2 page paper due at the end of each week, 1 paper and one large research paper. Doesnt give grades, just good excellent and i dont know what she gives for bad, because i never got a "bad" grade. I loved her! I would take any other class with her

Dr. Rieman is a great professor. The material can get a little boring sometimes, but she realizes this and tries to make it as interesting as possible. Her grading isn't harsh at all. Just make an effort with the work and turn it in. She has a quirky sense of humor, which I found to be amusing.

Dr. Rieman is an awesome professor. If you have the chance to sign up/be in her class, you won't regret that decision. She is very down-to-earth and communicates well with her students. We had three main papers, various writing prompts, and a digital portfolio to complete. Stay focused and do the work assigned and you'll get an A! :)

Dr. Rieman is one of the best professors I've ever met! She does EVERYTHING possible to help you through the course. She doesn't make it easy, but she genuinely care for her students. She allows 4 missed classes, on top of the three or four that she has to cancel herself. Her textbook use is high, but she even gave the class one to use for free!

Canadian Lit focus for this class sounds boring but it was actually interesting. A little heavy on the reading for most, but English majors or the non-lazy will do fine. She's very nice and helpful. Writing brief character and story outlines while reading will help you a ton with pop quizzes. Time frames and settings seemed important too.

Dr. Rieman is the best! Very down-to-Earth, loves the topic, and gives interesting topics for writing assignments. No page requirements on papers and all that other crap. Also, she doesnt do grades in her 1101x class (except for the final project and participation). Be real, thoughtful, & in-depth in all your papers and you'll do great. TAKE HER!!!

I really liked her. She's the perfect english teacher. Kind of off beat but knows her stuff. Her class isn't easy but it isn't terribly hard either. You have 3 papers to write and a portfolio at the end. If you go to her and ask for help she'll help you all she can. She's a cool lady and very fair.

By far Dr. Jan was my favorite teacher this semester. She's very approachable, eager to help and extremely knowledgeable. We do a lot of writing and reading so definitely be prepared for that but overall this was not a terribly hard class and I really enjoyed myself.

she is very into her subject. she is a good teacher and there are a lot of class discussions. you can give her as many rough drafts as you want and she will help you. However, she does grade harshlly. I got an 85 on my first paper after I fixed everything she told me to, then I realized I made the best grade around me.

Prof. Rieman was great. The class wasn't too hard. I think we only had to write 5 papers overall and a portfolio, but for each paper she would let you revise it for a higher grade. I enjoyed her class a lot and my writing has improved due to her. Take her for english!
