So boring. This class was painful. It is also incredibly easy. Talk to her during office hours, and you are pretty much set. Do the readings, and you will get an A with minimal effort. Not to be mean, but please do not take this class unless you REALLY need a good mark. She's nice, by the way.

She may not be a flashy person, but she is very kind and respectful to her students. Well-prepared for lectures and knows the materials well. She is also a lenient marker. If there is a downside in her lectures it would be a lack of discussions in which students talk about their interpretations of the works, but overall the class is good.

I took her 9am class and it's very difficult to stay interested. I wouldn't have gone if she didn't take attendance. HOWEVER, she is very kind, knowledgeable, and a fair marker. It is not hard to get a good mark in her class.

Very clear. Fair marker. Go see her to discuss your paper and she'll essentially tell you what must be said in your paper. This translates to an A. Boring class, attend only to sign the attendance sheet. Lovely lady, very approachable and friendly.

She's very helpful out of class and took the time to meet up with everyone in the class to discuss their paper. She met up with me twice in fact. Not a hard marker, as long as you write about what she said in class, then you'll be fine. She also tells you exactly what she's looking for. Nice and easy pace in teaching.

definitely a very nice person (let me write a missed midterm with no hassal). easy course becuz u dont have 2 go 2 class- i didnt take any notes at all & still did well. spark notes was my best friend for this course. all she does is summarize plays with minimal analysis. doesnt do any group work or junk - just lectures, which is how i like english

Very nice, traditional lecture style. She'll tell you what's important rather than go over interesting trivia or controversial ideas, and she won't waste time with group work or other pointless exercises. She will tell you exactly what she's looking for. Great professor!

I ahev completely lost my interest ing lit because of this woman. She seems like a very nice person but she has no talent for teaching whatsoever. her lectures are dry, dull and instead of encouraging debate, she seems only to favour those who agree with her opinions.

Man, I love this lady. Gooch is so wonderful. She knows everything about her subject, seriously. She is so helpful inside and outside class, and will tell you amazing things about whatever you're studying. Some people find her dull, but if you actually listen to what she's saying, she knows so much and is really interesting.

BORING! Wow, I had her at 9 in the morning... she made getting up in the morning VERY difficult. I hated it! She does know her stuff though, and she is slightly helpful in her office hours, but lectures are horrible. If its a three day a week course, pick one day a week not to go... it helps!

Dry! Either attend class or read the material (ie:Shakespeare, spent an entire class on what the globe theatre was like, and another repeating the play word for word without a great deal of analysis.)Likes you to agree w/ her and tends to shy away from anything risque or controversial.That said, she is *incredibly* kind hearted and an easy marker.

Professor Gooch is probably one of the most helpful and caring profs that I have come to known. She has an extreme interest in what she teaches and although her lectures aren't sensational by any means, she does her job well and students come away more knowledgeable, but more importantly with a clear sense of what she wants from her students.
