Professor hood is a nice person with a lot of knowledge to back her up. However, her class is utterly unstimulating and attendance is required. If you want a class that a sponge could get an a in, go for this! But if you want to learn or have a hard time attending mind numbing functions, Stay AWAY!

I've had a hard time convincing myself to do anything this woman asks. Worst prof I've ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSES! She needs to retire 20 years ago (along with her lesson plans! She is miserable and I honestly have learned almost NOTHING of value. ICK!

Nice lady, knows her stuff, gives interesting articles, but AWFUL AWFUL lecturer. She talks way too much about her home life and doesn't make any sense when she is talking about the subject. She will also tell you just how much your writing sucks and correct every single grammar issue even if you don't want her to. Do not take any of her classes!!!

I agree horrible, horrible, horrible. Teaching from same binder for last twenty years. She is boring and does not go byond her notes. Tells you how brilliant you are and then makes you feel stupid when you don't say what she wants to hear. Don't waste your time take this same class with Betsy Erbaugh!

Horrible, horrible, horrible! She THINKS that she knows what she's talking about. Her theories and methods are completely outdated. This woman needs to retire ASAP. She's insulting, rude, boring, and unknowledgable. I used to actually like sociology... she makes it unbearable. Avoid her classes like the plague.

All of the comments are accurate! PLUS she'll insult your "lack of education" and says that every other sociologist is wrong and she's the only knowledgeable sociologist. What an aweful class! RUN AWAY WHILE YOU CAN!

Dr. Jane Hood has plenty of experience in the field of social research, and is posibly the most qualified teacher in the dept to teach this class, HOWEVER, i found the class to be somewhat boring and the lecture content to go in circles at times. I think the content was good, but presented slowly. Jane hood is a good professor, just odd.

Prof Hood really knows her stuff, but she can ramble sometimes and her voice drifts off -- sit near the front. She is very interested in the material and cares about the students, but can be a little inconsistent. Seems to have a lot on her mind. Good teacher for the most part.

Many classmates hated this class. It's not all that bad though. the key in this class is to show up! you will pass with an A if you show up. there are many little assignments that drastically reduce the weight of the tests which really are not that hard.
