Jane Sheldon is very passionate about what she teaches, but barely covers any of the material on her tests so get ready to read A LOT. If you don't study the textbook you will not pass any of the 5 tests, which are the only things that go in the grade book. 5 points extra credit offered for participating in studies which are actually pretty fun

Comment:

Professor Sheldon was excellent! The class was challenging so I had to work hard for my A but I wouldn't say there was too much work in this class. Just high standards instead of an easy A. I learned tons that will help me in my life. Definitely recommend!

The level of difficulty of this course is ludicrous. Don't take her if you can't read the entire text twice, attend all lectures, memorize all notes, and then be able to apply it inside out. Your GPA will suffer if you are taking other challenging classes. Is her kindness worth more than your GPA? Think it through before making a foolish mistake.

Dr. Sheldon is amazing! I loved taking the adolescence class with her. I can't describe how much effort and time she puts into her teaching. She cares about her students. You have to study, but it is worth it. You will love her lectures. She is ready to answer any question that you have. I would definitely recommend her!

My courses aren't in here but I took her for Psych 428 and an independent study. She the best professor I've had, extremely helpful! Now she's helping with my personal interest statement for my MSW. If you're serious about psych, then she's your girl. If want to take the easy way out, then try someone else.

It is impossible to pass this class without reading. Her lectures are very in depth but she doesn't cover everything. I knew a lot of people who did not read and did bad in her class. If you are unwilling to read do not take her. Overall she is a good professor and she really cares about teaching. Gives a lot of examples in class that are on exam

Amazing! Definitely one of my favorite professors so far in my college career. She makes the lectures very interesting applies all of the concepts to real life. She always answers any questions. Honestly for all of the tests I just studied the notes and quickly read over the book pages that are required and got B or higher on all tests.

Great professor! Her teaching style is lecture based but she applies psychology to the real world and makes lecture interesting, emails back and is accessible out of class. You can tell she is very knowledgeable and eager of her profession. Just show up to class, write down everything she writes/says, STUDY notes, and complete 3 assignments.

Dr. Sheldon is one of the best professors I've ever had, and she really cares about your success. My class had a lot of freshmen that weren't expecting to have to read all of the textbook chapters, so I think that's the reason why some other reviewers didn't like the class. But if you actually read the chapters and study, you'll do amazingly!

I LOVE Dr. Sheldon!! I'm taking her next semester because I love her style of teaching so much. Her stories are hysterically funny! (especially the one about the backhoe.) Although her exams are hard she will rephrase any question for you during the exam to make sure you aren't confused about what its asking. How great is that?!?!?!

Get the study guide!! My grade went from a D to A's and B's after I got It! Her lectures are super entertaining and she gives lots of examples from real life to explain class material. She's also gave me advice about different psych classes to take that would help me with my Business major. She actually cares about students and their lives.

Five multiple choice tests is all there is. No papers. Don't miss lectures and be sure to read book! Great lectures! If you hate Powerpoint the way I do, you'll love this class cuz it's Powerpoint free. She's also really easy to talk to.
