Comment:

Fantastic Professor if you are willing to apply any effort. She provides all the opportunity in the world, lots of chances to earn very easy grades. Her lectures aren't simple, she wants you to genuinely understand the material. She is excellent during her office hour. Political bias is present, but does not take away from her top quality teaching.

Comment:

One of the worst professors I've ever had. She's dismissive, unapproachable, and often tries to come across as superior. Has assigned seating so that's one noticeable issue. There is a lot to say, but the most important thing to note is that in regards to her teaching methods, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Do not take a class with her.

Possibly one of the worst profs at York U history. Dropped her course after attending about 5-6 of her lectures. Avoid her if you can!

She's not my favourite professor. Her exams are quite tough and the reading are a little boring and can get long. The material is interesting, but her lectures make it not enjoyable. Participation is mandatory because she uses clickers and that goes towards your grade.

Don't bother to ask questions during lectures, as she gets quite annoyed. If you ask her a question during her office hours, she will help you a lot and explain concepts, etc. more clearly than she ever does in lecture. The entire course was based on a textbook, and it was an utterly horrible book.

She was well prepared for lecture and knew her material. Attendance was mandatory as one would loose marks if not present via Clicker. She was helpfull, listening and solving my issues. If you are in to learn and do some school work then you could succeed in her numerous assignments. I would take another class with her

most annoying prof I have come across.. doesnt believe in letting the students voice their opinions (funny with the fact being that she is a prof for politics). She doesnt like to give students a break from the readings even during holidays. Makes students put in too much effort for too little stuff. Would never take a course with her.. blehhh !

Some of these comments seem outlandish now that I have had the opportunity to take a class with her. I would say the structure of her course is very manageable for students who are interested in learning and attending lectures. The only issue I had was with the TA's interpretation of what she was looking for on assignments. I also have a serious issue with TAs and professors who don't believe in A+. Why does York even have an A+ in their system if professors don't start assignments at an A+?

Her lectures are boring and she often goes on tangents, but shes OK overall.However, she can be mean if you approach her with special requests.I'd rather not take another class with her, but shes not as bad as these comments paint her to be.

Shes a little crazy, she talks to us like were 10 years old; she put 20 per cent of the grading on `proffesionalism`, so if you were late for her classes youd be deducted. You see where I`m going. I didnt hate her, but I wouldnt take another one with her

You know, I am not a teacher's pet or anything but, she is pretty great. Her lectures are pretty interesting. The only bother is it's an 8:30 class. She is very nice and she is someone you want to chat with over a cup of coffee.

It's warped that she has written a bunch of books on critical pedagogy and diversity in the classroom when she has not a real clue what those conceptions even mean. If you see her name on the syllabus, or if this is the course director who walks in on the first day of class--drop, immediately, do not walk, run.
