Comment:

Dr. Duncan is a very nice guy. Knows his stuff in regards to the material and is very clear with what is expected of his students. His tests are on exactly what he hands out on his review guide. He even provides the essay topics for the exams ahead of time! His voice is a bit monotone, however it's easy to get past once you realize how nice he is.

He indeed knows his stuff. But for an intro class he is particular on specific details not needed to excel in history. Most of the students in my class were taking is for gen ed so I feel that it's more important to know the concepts and why things happen, not the specific date, exact location, and/or specific names. We must understand the reasons.

The lectures are long and heralds the whole time. You need the book to do well on the quizzes. All quizzes as exams are essay format. If you keep up with the reading you'll do fine. It's very hard to pay attention in lecture though, pretty boron unless you love history.

Dr. Duncan will help you when it's requested. His voice is monotone, but his notes are exactly what you're tested on. Extremely liberal and very interested in theological debates. He's having a baby in March!!

He is a very intelligent man who takes seriously his job and has a contagious passion for what he teaches. He is well organized, comes to class on time, and does research outside of class only to exceed the expectations of even the most discerning pupil. I would recommend Duncan to everyone and wish that there were more professors like him.

Great guy with a hilarious sense of humor. I enjoyed him as a prof and as a person, but not the class. It was tough and he talks very fast while reading from his notes...be prepared to write fast!

A very smart man with an obvious brilliance and a stealthy, wry sense of humor. Does not tolerate fools, which might explain some of his feedback. Yes he lectures from notes, not an overhead, so what? Very helpful with papers, willing to discuss issues during office hours, nice guy, great prof.

Dr. Duncan was a very knowledgable Professor. If you are looking for a Professor that will deliver a lecture with untainted facts, you've found the right person. Dr. Duncan leaves his personal politics out of his teaching, what a nice change from most of the opinionated profs out there.
