Extremely nice teacher but worlds hardest marker and don't take this class if you are straight out of high school like I was when I took this class. He makes you write 3 8-10 page essays and is such a hard marker when it comes to the essays. High school doesn't prepare you to write 8-10 page essays but he expects you to already know how.

Jay is an amazing professor. His course consists of one essay, a midterm and the final exam is essay format which you work on at home (yes, you can use your textbook and other sources :)). The questions on the midterm consist of the group work you do, so pay attention because those are the questions that show up on the midterm! Loved this class

Awesome guy, very passionate about Canadian politics, great prof. Pay attention in class out of interest, readings aren't necessary. Really just need to study one entire chapter front to back and you'll be good for the exams. Paper topic is chosen by you and approved by him. He doesn't mark easy but it's reasonable. One of the best classes!

Good guy. Easy course. Reads straight from the textbook. The tests cover 3 chapters and you have 3 essay questions to choose from so if you study one chapter really well you're guaranteed to do well. Only wanted to discuss his views and not assess every option available ie.) talked about senate reform would not discuss abolishment.

Such a passionate professor who cares about his students. I took two courses with him at KPU and wish he was at SFU so I could have him as a professor. He is clear, concise, and his mid-terms, essays, and finals were all straight-forward. Honestly, one of the best educators I have ever had.

Great teacher, very laid back, our class got let out early on a few occasions once he feels everyone has been present for the lectures. Read the text book as he does follow this. Very fair marker and he is willing to help you with anything you need. Take time with the large essay and ensure you speak to him in regards to a topic before hand

Jay is an awesome teacher. If you read the chapters and go to class and take good notes, you will do well. There are 2 midterms and a final which are all essay format. He puts up 3 questions and you pick one to do. There is also a pretty big research essay but you can turn in as many drafts as you want and he will comment on them. I recommend him.

Jay is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's incredibly bright, knows his stuff, and makes his classes interesting. He isn't strict on attendance, and says that he would rather you stay home if you aren't going to pay attention in class. He's very fair, and treats students with respect. Take his class. I love this teacher. He is funny and very helpful. He has messy writing so make sure you always ask him what he wrote, he doesnt mind. You have a midterm, project, research essay, and final. No assignment, just readings which are easy.

I've had Jay for two classes. He is interesting, funny, clear and extremely knowledgable. Would for sure take more of his classes. There are two mid terms and one final - all essay format. There is one term paper as well...which Jay will proof read prior to the deadline and provide feedback. GREAT prof. :)
