Dr. Herrick is a gem. He is knowledgable, kind, and overall a fantastic professor. He truly cares about education and about your well-being. I'm nearing the end of my degree, and am so grateful that I had the opportunity to have him as a professor and mentor.

Dr. Herrick is one of the best professors at JMU. He is so sweet, so kind and makes micro interesting. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, GO! You will not pass if you do not make every lecture unless you have a friend in the class.

Dr. Herrick was the MAN! He was seriously so amazing. Only thing difficult is that any random story he tells in class is fair game for the test but just write down EVERYTHING and youre good! Such a nice man! Take him if you get the chance!

Dr. Herrick was an amazing professor. I am so sad that this was his last semester teaching 280. I never once read the textbook so you probably don't need it. Herrick gave us a break every class because he knew how lecture heavy the class was. If you take good notes and study further in advance you will do fine in the class.

Comment:

He reminded me so much of my grandpa. He makes lectures fun & tells funny, crazy stories & it really helps you to remember the material better. His lectures have a lot of info in them so if you miss it's bad. But overall it was a class that I enjoyed a lot. It's so sad that this is his last semester teaching bio 280.

This is the first time the class is being taught, so it's understandable that there would be some kinks to work out. But Prof Herrick doesn't really seem to know what's going on half the time and relies on the TA a lot. The class itself is pretty boring too.

This class is definitely not an easy A, but an A is doable. Tests mostly straight from powerpoint and a few things he mentions in class. He offered extra credit this semester which was very helpful. 4 tests and a final, study a week before and you'll be fine.

Professor Herrick is like the cute neighborhood grandpa. I loved going to his 8 am lecture. He is so passionate about microbiology and he makes it very clear to his students. This class is a difficult class, so you must come with initiative to study and make flash cards or whatever you need to really understand the material. Would recommend him

Herrick was such a sweet sweet old man. I throughly enjoyed every minute of his class! Microbiology is a tough subject, but as long as you come to class, listen to his funny examples, and take notes on the slides, you will be fine. His tests are completely lecture based, not textbook based. He is literally the cutest old man ever!!

Herrick is great! He is very comical and makes 8 ams a little less boring. Go to class and you will do fine. 4 exams and a final for lecture and they come straight from the powerpoints and things he says in class. Take him for sure if you can!

Dr. Herrick is the BOMB! He is super passionate about micro and really cares about what he does. He can be super funny and really makes the 8am enjoyable. The tests are straight from the lectures so as long as you read the lectures(but really memorize them) and pay attention in class as he adds small details from lectures you'll do great

Dr. Herrick is a great person! He loves his class and wants all of his students to do well. The average on the majority of the exams was an 80%! He is also very personable and funny. Getting up at 8 am is worth it for this course and you will not regret it. :)

Dr. Herrick is very passionate about microbiology but this class is definitely not an "easy A." In order to do well on the tests I had to basically memorize the power points and study a week before the exam. They are cumulative exams and I found them to be difficult. You must go to lecture in order to pass! All in all, he made the 8am enjoyable!

Loved Dr. Herrick! He honestly is one of the most passionate professors I have ever had since being at JMU. He loves his job and it shows. Study hard for his tests especially if you haven't had a strong biology background they can be tricky but you will be fine if you put the time and effort into his class.

Herrick is really funny, really smart, and super knowledgeable. You have to come to class in order to do well for the tests. Not everything in the power point's need to be studied for the exams, and if you are like me its hard to know what to or not to choose. Record his lectures! cumulative exams, but they aren't extremely hard.

Herrick is extremely knowledgable about microbiology. His exams come straight from the powerpoints, however, he does add detail in class lecture that he tests you on. If you go to class, study, and take really good notes, this class is not too bad, and the final is SUPER easy! I would definitely take this class with Herrick again!

Micro is the easiest class I have taken at JMU. I took it at the same time as BIO 214 which turned out to be beneficial because the classes are very similar. Herrick is a very good professor and the tests come straight from the power points. Sometimes he will throw a question on the test from something that he said in class.

Herrick is an awesome dude, but his class is tough. As a nursing major, Micro was suppose to be an easy A (and Herrick makes this impossible) The class has for tough exams and one homework grade (easy 100). His lectures are all over the place-studied by watching Youtube videos. Do not need textbook. Take Roth if possible-his finals are open notes

Dr. Herrick is a funny and super smart man. He makes hard concepts easier to understand. His exam questions are straight forward. He is always willing to help you. He is super approachable. He always has a story to share during lecture. You definitely have to try in this class! But he is an awesome professor!
