Comment:
Fantastic professor. Kind, passionate, thought provoking. Definitely a character but in the most interesting and enjoyable of ways. His work is consistent, 2 poems or 4 pages of prose a week. Some light to average reading. A few papers. He is very lenient and more than willing to give extensions. Only downside is that he doesn't use canvas. at all.

Very passionate about poetry, absolutely hilarious man with such rich expression. A poet through and through, and can teach you a lot. Requires a fair amount of homework, but it's not uptight so you can have fun writing it. Willing to work with you individually as necessary. Doesn't provide grades throughout the semester, but does give feedback

JIm is by far one of the best professors at Champlain. He does kinda give a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it in my opinion. He's also very understanding, so if something happens and you can't get work done on time, just tell him and he'll give you an extension. Also, thanks to him I'm getting something published for the first time.

People like Jim because he tends to give the easy A. But, he provides literally no feedback beyond: checks, good job, or expand, even when he hands back bad grades, cannot be reached to get more feedback. He gave weekly assignments, but only 2 grades total before the final. Has students copy 50 poems by hand, try it with carpal tunnel some time.

I loved Jim's class. He is honestly one of the best creative writing teachers I have ever had. The class is a hard one. He pushes you to succeed, but he is still one of the nicest guys out there. His class can get repetitive, and his final Anthology project makes no sense to me. But I learned more from him than any other teacher out there.

Jim is amazing! He pushes all of his students to be even better writers than they thought possible. His almost 3 hour long class always flew by. He is so understanding and really cares about each individual student. He is truly inspirational and I am going to make sure that I take another class with him before my time at Champlain is through!

Jim is the best thing to about Champlain, hands down. He could read from the dictionary and would still inspire every student in the room to change the world. If you have even the smallest interest in creative writing, he'll inspire you to create masterpieces.

Jim's the greatest teacher I've ever had. I'm honored to have him as an advisor as well. He inspires the best of myself as a writer. He breathes and lives the job. I will never forget him, and will miss him after graduating. I can only hope to have him every semester. A one of a kind teacher. Everything you look for in a life-changing kind of prof.

I fear I will never meet a person who lives up to Jim-- someone who teaches, inspires, and cares, but also someone who I would love to hang out with. I feel extremely lucky to have had him in my freshman year of college. Long Live JCE

Let me just say: I recently started my first grad class for my Master's and I wish my professor was as amazing as Jim. He has real heart. He gets to know you and cares about you/how you do. He keeps it light, but he's serious about his subject. Let the badger out!
