Best prof I've had at Dal! Is super knowledgeable in organic chem and can explain any topic multiple ways. Cares more about you learning the material than getting a good grade. Material is tough but the exams are pretty fair. Definitely made organic chem enjoyable!

Smartest man I've ever met. Hilarious. Brutally difficult, but fair, tests. The material is brutally difficult. If you plan on taking Organic Synthesis, you should also plan on not drinking, making love or watching TV.

Even though I absolutely despised the subject matter and didnt do very well, I have to admit that the effort Dr.Burnell put into helping students understand was incredible. He takes a great deal of time to talk to students individually, focus on problem areas, set up small tutorials and answer all questions on BLS. incredible profesor.

Dr. Burnell is a great professor. I would say he is the best I've had. He is able to explain concepts extremely well, and his analogies actually make since. He injects humor into chemistry, making the subject enlightening and fun. His problem sets and tutorials will help you in the understanding the concepts.

Great Prof. This guy is way too smart, he comes to lecture with no notes and knows everything he is going to talk about and provides amazing examples. Very clear about material and does repeat the important concepts alot. The time he takes for extra tutorials was great.

Dr Burnell is the best professor I've had thus far in my academic career. He explains everything well. He is completely fair. He makes me like organic chem, even though I suck at it. He dedicates so much time to his students. Would answer BLS questions at like 1am before an exam. Just absolutely.. amazing.

Burnell is fairly old-fashioned. He teaches directly off the chalkboard, but takes time to repeat important concepts several times, and thoroughly explain difficult concepts. Offers plenty of practice material sheets and plenty of extra-help/clarification time that make it easy to succeed on his quizzes, midterm and final. Superb and witty prof.

He is the best prof I've ever had. He's hilarious, interesting, VERY smart and could explain life itself in one hour with a piece of chaulk. Nicest guy in the world, so approachable. And I'm pretty sure he HAS said that exact quote in class already. He also likes to measure "reaction times" in terms of our grandchildren's deaths. Love him!
