Prof. Hetherington has incredible knowledge and enthusiasm for Geologybut I wouldn't recommend taking her class, especially if you are a lib. arts major who is taking the class just to complete IGETC reqs. I felt the material was too intensive for an intro-level course and she expected a hefty 9+ hours/week of study outside class to earn a C.

Prof. Hetherington is my favorite professor so far. She makes class so fun and seriously inspired me switch my major to Geology. She is so passionate and makes her lectures so organized and clear anybody could understand it. She cares about her students and truly wants you to succeed. I would take this class again in a snap.

Lab went from easy to really hard. You need the text book (needs to be new) &you have to bring it to class every time. I had her for lecture& she isn't hard its just the material is tough &since lab is only once a week its hard to understand& study cause its hands on with a group. She will help& is kind so don't hesitate to ask. Advise not to take.

Prof H was a good teacher. I got an A in the Geology 120 lecture class & it wasn't too difficult. She basically writes all the notes you need for the class on the board so I would show up. Quizzes are based on notes from previous class & chapter HW. 3 midterms and 1 final. Study for the class do the homework especially& review notes, should be fine

She is fake-nice, her lectures are fun, but her tests are nonsense. There's no reason to make an introductory course THAT MOST TAKE ONLY BECAUSE ITS REQUIRED so test intensive. She takes questions from the homework which is great, but then she makes up her own questions which are SUPER misleading, she needs to take a class on question writing.

This was not an easy class. I had no problems with the lecture last semester but this lab was challenging. Professor Hetherington was great though.

Shes way to obsessed with geology!! Class was literally the most boring 1 hour and 20 minutes of my life. Ended up having to drop after 2 weeks because I missed one class for a very personal reason and she dropped me. Acts super nice to your face but isn't a nice person at all. I wouldn't take geology whatsoever unless you're absolutely required.

WOW. Lectures are well planned out and organized. Loved going to every class. Tests are tough but if you put in the time to study, you should pass. Go to every class, for each lecture has mounds of information that is important for tests and quizzes. Learned a lot of cool stuff! Definitely take her class.

She teaches the beginning classes alot, and she seems to have a pretty reliable formula for teaching it, that said, she's really unstable, her tests are all over the place, leaving students wondering what the heck they did wrong, she's rude and vindictive, god forbid you raise you raise your hand, whoever else teaches it, take them, less headache

This prof is my favorite ever. The notes she writes during her lectures are perfect, and she writes the quizzes and tests according to them. Be sure to write the notes word for word complete with her drawings and don't bother buying the book. She's also very nice, helpful, and doesn't take attendance after the add-in period, but you should attend.

Professor Hetherington is a very passionate geology teacher that makes an uninteresting subject to most people into a fascinating one. It's not a cakewalk, however. You don't need to attend the lectures, but there are weekly quizzes and the exams are pretty difficult.

Ms. Hetherington was a great instructor! I took the 6 week summer course that was split with Mr. Mayfield. She used visual aids and made the content easy to understand. I think the course would not have been as challenging had it been a regular semester. All of the test answers are either in her lecture & the chapter questions. Just review them!

Hetherington is a great teacher. The whole class session is a lecture, but she is very elaborate and manages to make a somewhat boring subject pretty fun. She's willing to help people who are struggling, but also want students to think for themselves. Exams aren't too hard, as long as you do the HW and go over class notes. Overall, a good class.

Great teacher who knows the material very well. She uses her class time wisely and is very clear. It is hard to not understand a concept after she explains it. there is no homework, but you can do it and have her check it weekly, because what is on the hw is on the quiz the following week. Worth it. 4 tests. the tests are on the hw and lectures.

She's a great teacher. The lectures are always very engaging, and the quizzes are taken directly from the homework. However, the tests are RIDICULOUSLY difficult. I studied hours and hours every week and I am just praying that I pass this class with a C (I'm typically an A-B student). I recommend her if you have a good study habit.

great teacher!!!! quiz every week, questions are straight out of the book and she even tells you which 5 questions to study, and chooses 4 of them for the quiz. TESTS ARE HARD. big time. short answers which really need to be long answers. be very detailed. loved the class

She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. The class is challenging but she is always willing and available to help. She responds to emails quickly.. Go to class and do the work and you will do fine. The tests are hard but she gives you what to study before and will go over any questions you have prior to the test.

This class is easy peasy if you attend lectures and read over the vocab in the book before the test. She gives weekly quizzes that are the exact same questions as from the homework, so do the homework before class!
