Comment:

Your only grades are from your research paper. You meet once a week and he can say things that WILL put you down. But he makes you prepared. This class made me more prepared for my future college classes. It was hard, but that's college. He is passionate and, whether or not it feels like it, he genuinely cares about your success.

Professor Benowitz is the most caring professor you will ever meet. If you work hard you will do great, stop complaning and you will find his class is not that bad. Yes, you have to read and write alot. Well guess what.. you are in college get over it. This class helped me extremely with other research papers.

oh boy multiple things to say with so little space to say it. During this class you are going to absolutely hate every minute of it. The lectures don't relate to anything graded. You write papers non stop and its TERRIBLE!But once you are done with the class you will be so happy that it is over that you almost think you enjoyed it while it lasted.

This is a horrible class. Everything about it was just awful in every way. The lectures are irrelevant to everything else so you are completely on your own to write the papers. He gives you a huge assignment guide with vague instructions, but he expects perfection first time around. I don't like this class and I don't like him.

The lectures are completely unrelated to the class, and you aren't tested on them. To pass, you just need to do well on the papers that are detailed out in the syllabus. If you follow the syllabus's guidelines you'll pass. You also meet with him weekly and he goes over your work with you, which makes it easy to get a good grade

He is an extremely tough grader with very vague instructions at first about what he wants. When you go to his meetings thinking that he will help you, because you've never used Chicago formatting in your life, he belittles you and tears your work apart. Be prepared to write paper after paper for him to degrade and destroy.

I'm in my third week, just got our first lecture. First off, he's odd. Rarely wears socks, shaves his legs, likes short shorts outside of class. He is really into telling you everything you learned in wrong, then blasting you with his facts but not giving evidence to support them. He makes you write a lot and is NOT a great advisor.

Lectures are irrelevant to the rest of the class. Literally what he talks about doesn't need to be know to pass the class. You're grade consists entirely of papers, so if you aren't a good writer this isn't the class for you. FYS aren't supposed to be this stressful, their supposed to get you acclimated to college, which is not a focus of his.

Benowitz is a great connection to have in your back pocket and is very respected throughout the college. He is a bit odd (very very odd) but if you try your best and follow his instructions and his guidance you will succeed.

Professor Benowitz is probably the greatest professor I had in my time at Etown. He truly cares about what he teaches, and he instills a sense of belief in his students. If you are willing to do the work and go to class, than you will feel more than accomplished. You do read a lot in his class, but his attitude and teaching style makes up for it.

Benowitz's FYS was so easy to get an A in, but his inappropriate jokes left me feeling slightly awkward in class. I also had him as an advisor because I was in his FYS and he is a TERRIBLE advisor. He insists you do things his way... don't let him.

He sometimes gets egoistic during his lectures. His jokes are either funny or really cheesy. Benowitz has a very big syllabus that you MUST follow. If you miss a point on one of the papers' requirements, he will deduct major points. Even with all the papers, my writing skills did not really improve. They often involved repetition & redundancy.

Great professor and engaging lecturer. You will learn a wealth of information in any of his classes. Presents the information to the students with a ton of passion and charisma. This professor ruined my first semester experience by treating me like complete garbage. He made me feel like no matter what I did, I would never make it at Etown College. In class he sometimes gives people points for talking and answering questions and sometimes you got nothing. In 2 days we had to read a book and answer 258 questions on it.
