There was a lot of reading for this class, but it wasn't hard to pay attention because all the material is very interesting! The quizzes were online and easy, the books were interesting and there was only one paper. Would definitely recommend.

Professor Winkle is the reason I study Classics. His expectations are clear, and though he expects effort from his students he's also realistic and understanding if you miss class or don't have an assignment done. Really cares about his students and is very approachable. LOVES the material he's teaching. TAKE ONE OF HIS CLASSES.

Amazing Professor. Taught the material at a level that all participants no matter their prior knowledge could understand and enjoy. Created a friendly and interactive classroom environment, and ALWAYS loved hearing the students questions. Never a boring lecture... I would highly recommend Prof. Winkle to anyone!

This man is incredible. In the arduous minefield that is choosing a professor at a college, this man simply explodes with rainbows and candy corn. Brilliant, Funny, Informative, not too hard, Perfect. We need more professors with his kind of knack for teaching.

Winkle is my absolute favourite professor. Every lecture or conversation I've had with him has been fascinating and relevant. I highly suggest taking as many core as you can through his classical studies courses(for non-classic majors).

My favorite Prof at Calvin. Funny guy. Really knows his stuff. And will gladly back up if you're unsure what's going on. I was excited to attend class. Although I felt like I was letting down a friend if I didn't do my homework. Take him if even remotely possible. Also, go see his band.

Good teacher. Very knowledgable and has good stories to tell. Only 2 tests. Chapters he assigns can be long and boring but its not critical you read them because he goes over everything in class and not many quizzes. Take his class, he is a good guy!
