Hell of a guy. Don't let his picture on here scare you. So incredibly nice, but very quirky and fun. The material does get really hard as the semester goes on, but he does his best to explain it. Takes an interest in your personal life and academics and isj ust an all around great person. He's the best prof for 101, so take him if you can. GREAT!

Professor Carr is definitely an interesting teacher. Randomly throughout the semester, he will cancel class for no reason other than giving us more time for an essay or just because. He outlines everything you need during class, including what all you'll need to read for your multiple essays.

He takes attendance 95% of the time, but if you have a circumstance that prevents you from going for whatever reason, he'll listen and be reasonable. If you go to class, the tests are pretty fair. Not the easiest if you have trouble with attendance, however.

he is fairly easy but paying attention helps. He def is a bit odd but really nice (he brought us all swedish fish one day). He also makes the class about as interesting as it possibly can be (non of the crit thinking prof talk about pot they save that for upper level phil classes)

I absolutely adore this man. I sooo wasn't looking forward to taking this class, but his weird sense of humor and interesting debates make this a really fun class. Hardly ever gives homework and tests are moderately easy. DEFINETILY recommend him!

This class is easy. It's basically common sense. A few pop quizzes, so go to class. Do the journals (there's usually a good surprise if you do...lol). Only 3 tests. But, Carr is totally hilarious. He says the craziest things and they are usually out of nowhere. If I had to take the class over, it would be with him (hands down).

Carr is a pretty good professor and a nice guy. He has a wacky sense of humor that I didn't get at first but grew on me over time. I thought the class was pretty difficult at first, but it's one of those "stick to it classes" if you stick to it, even if you are lost, you'll do all right. Homework not required, but it'll help.

horrible class, seems so easy but if you don't do it HIS way(which is pointless and drawn out) he'll take all sorts of points off...whoever had the idea of making this course mandatory must not have taken it with Carr, take it with someone else, from what i hear the other teachers just talk about when they used to get high and hitch-hike...

every class is a lecture, no tests, 3 papers (aprox 1500 words), quizzes occasionally in class but as long as you were there you'll have no problem. i'm pretty indifferent towards him, hes got a fake leg and obnoxious hair.

Good teacher - Phil 101 wasn't interesting but he is a fun person. Hardly any homework (you do problems in the book) but he goes over them in class and never collects. Some VERY EASY pop quizes now and then. Easy tests. Turn in jounral problems, which you have plenty of time to complete. Fair grader. Definately would reccomend him.

This class can be difficult, but Carr makes it fun and interesting. He's always more than happy to explain the old philosophers a bit better. (Get up to date on some Def Leppard trivia and/or playing the drums and you'll earn brownie points!)

Dr. Carr himself is really cool and interesting but the class? Not so much... If you're not into modern philosophy this class is not for you. He's a hard grader but if you actually put effort into your papers you'll be fine. Funny and very accepting but his lectures aren't always very clear.

He's awesome. He makes class interesting with his unusual sense of humorand Canadian accent. Critical Thinking is common sense with, obviously, a little thinking involved. He gives a few pop quizzes(easy) & 2 tests (moderate), plus the final & a paper(which we didnt have to do).

British accent, uses difficult language, a lot like philosophers do. He's extremely intelligent and knowledgable, so if you think you're good at bs, find another teacher. If you want to learn about hardcore modern philosophies, he's your guy.

very nice guy, but very tough grader. in a class about "nothing & everything", everything is so subjective to one's views and i don't understand how he can grade so hard. Also he likes Def Leppard....so ya.
