The best teacher I have had so far at Chabot. Read assigned reads, do reviews, and participate and easy pass. I missed about 2 reviews and still got a B. The books he chooses are really good books. He makes you think hard about big ideas. Really enjoyed this class.

Pretty easy class to pass. All you would need to do is participate during class discussion and it does not matter on what you say since he will give you credit as long as you have a reasoning behind your answer.

He's actually a really good teacher, and he's super nice. He does encourage people to really think about the subject he's super chill too. There is a lot of reading but he only assigned two books There really isn't that much work involved. It's like read, do one homework on the reading and then discuss in class. Very insightful, also no finals/test

Class discussion and participation is a key factor in what your experience in this class will be like. Be sure to show up to class on time and do the readings, there are multiple pop quizzes. He's a great professor and brings philosophy into everyday life. There's also a 2pg paper and a 6-8pg final paper as well.

I took his English 1A class. You will have to read and attend classes, everything gets scored. Pop-up quizs. To me it's hard but still interesting class.

Very good Professor. I was worried I was not going to like him on the first day. But i really enjoyed the class and his lectures. His class made me learn how to look at things from a different prospective. DO THE READINGS!!! Sad that class had to end.

PARTICIPATE! Don't skip class. I had his class for 4hrs, so miss 1 classmiss 4 lectures. He's a tough grader bc there's barely any workquizzes+he grades out of 3; but if you pay attention, it's easy. Essays are long, but they were all comparing his lectures to your own life so that makes it much easier. So does paying attentions&taking notes.

Jeff Zittrain isn't very clear on instruction and assignments. He doesn't care about his students success. Don't take him if you expect to get out with an easy A. He doesn't believe in giving A's. I was confused every time I left his class but I worked for my grade and passed with a B+

I left this class every day feeling totally mind blown, i kinda hated having my ideals and personal philosophy challenged because it's a lot easier to make up your mind and stick to it no matter what. But this class really made me reflect. Hes a good teacher, just dont mess up on quizzes, as there is very little material to be graded.

Basically if you show up to every class and pay attention to the lectures, take notes, and participate you will pass no problem. Pretty easy overall, no real quizzes. Mostly just reading and writing papers. Pretty laid back, you almost get the feeling he's making it up as he goes along but that's not a bad thing. Definitely an entertaining class!

He is awesome! He makes the course interesting. He brings a lot of good material for the class. The course work is not too heavy, textbook usage is minimal. But YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION! That is the least people can do to show respect. All in all he is a really cool guy!

He is an awesome professor! He makes you think without being a hard on about it, not too textbook heavy, not a tremendous amount of reading. He makes it all very interesting, and I did learn A LOT! PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS, THAT IS THE ONLY REAL REQUIREMENT. He makes everything easy enough, paying attention is the least anyone can do to show respect.

I HAVE TAKEN HIS CLASS AND I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE HATE HIM. BECAUSE HE DOES HIS JOB AS A TEACHER. HE TEACHES AND DOES IT BEST. BUT AS WE KNOW THERE IS ALWAYS THAT ONE GUY/GIRL. HE IS THE BEST AT WHAT HE DOES. HE IS EASY BUT AUTHENTIC. I ENJOYED HIS CLASS AND I TOOK IT DURING SUMMER. SHOW UP, DO UR READING, PARTICIPATE AND U WILL GET AN A FOR SURE.

He's an interesting teacher in the way he conducts his class. The syllabus was very vague, no start dates or end dates with assignments, seemed rushed, seemed somewhat disorganized at the beginning of every class. I got the sense he had better priorities over this class he was teaching.

I took this class because I needed it to transfer, but I came out with so much more. Take Zittrain for Philosophy 50 or 60 because he really makes you think about life. Do your reading, pay attention, participate when you can, and take notes if you need to. You'll do great!
