She assigns 3 assignments a week plus a paper about every other month. She is a slow grader and doesn't provide feedback for you individually. You have to comment on two other people's posts and that gets annoying. She doesn't grade your assignments quickly so you don't know how your'e doing. Don't buy the book either, I only used it once .

Good teacher, just harder for an online class. Make sure you are doing weekly reading.

Jennifer Courtney believes that all students are only taking her class. There is so much pointless busywork, it drives me insane. Work due every Thursday and Monday, then she doesn't even grade it! She is also very left leaning and will just beat you over the head with her opinions. So much pointless busy work. Don't take this professor.

This class is so much busy work and the prof doesn't respond to emails very quickly and she grades things slowly which makes it hard to know how you're doing. Do not recommend.

I took English 2030 and she is one of my new favorites. Be prepared to show up most of the time. You can afford to miss one or two classes, but other than that, show up and PARTICIPATE. Fair amount of reading and annotating. One or two papers, but mostly small reading responses. Not too difficult if you try. Replies very quickly to emails.

She was the best teacher I've had at SLCC. I really felt like I learned valuable information and the readings, though some were difficult, were amazing and life-changing.

Most impressive thing about Ms. Courtney was her competence of how to conduct an online class. It can make or break your experience. She communicated clearly, stays on a schedule, provides weekly homepage updates, grades promptly. I'm kind of in awe at the amount of time she devotes to her class. The work is frequent, but her guidance is great.

Jennifer was a great teacher. This class definitely was a challenge though to say the least if writing isn't your strength. There is a lot of short paper you have to write and a few longer ones. I took a service learning class, so all the writing was based on the organization you worked with.

Dislike. This class is so controversial. Diversity in American Literature apparently means you read political articles and get told your opinion is wrong. There is a discussion on Canvas once a week with very little instruction. You have to buy more than one book, too. No normal textbooks. Don't take this class if you have an opinion.

With this class be ready to do "Service Learning". Look it up. She is a good teacher in regards to helping you explore different ways of writing. She responds to most things you have asked. She can be a little vague on assignments but mainly I think it's the whole "online" experience. Just make sure you do your work and you'll be fine!

There is a lot of work to do in this class. One thing that you need to be aware of that 15 hours of community service is required and those that are taking full time classes and working full time will be very frustrated since in my opinion an English course has nothing to do with Community Service.

There is work due every week on Tues, Thurs, and Saturday. There were a couple group assignments, but you'll be fine if you take initiative and do your part. She always answers questions and is clear about what needs to be completed and when. Lots of writing, but all of the subjects are your choice (within guidelines). Would definitely recommend.

Most of us take online courses because of the flexibility, but with this professor there is none of that. You have assignments due consistently Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday and she only posts one week of assignments. The assignments are often very labor intensive and rely on other classmates completing their work for you to do yours.

There is definitely a lot of work in this class, but nothing that is overwhelming. She is very helpful and answers emails within 24 hours. Sometimes the work can seem like a monotonous filler. No textbook required, but there were four other texts we used. Would take another class from her.

If this is your only class, go for it. Taking more classes? Drop it. You will DROWN in work. Her assignments are so out of touch with reality. Tons and tons of homework. Wouldn't recommend

some of her class is based online such as submitting assignments and seeing your grade. keep up with online stuff and you will be fine. she is service learning based and i didn't like that, great teacher otherwise. lots of work so if you keep up the class is pretty easy, requires effort so be willing to work but she cares about helping you!!

Jennifer is fantastic! She gives great feedback to every assignment. There is a big paper due every week, but you just have to meet the basic requirements and then revise at the end for final project. You read a lot from the textbook and get quizzed on it. She gives a schedule at the beginning of the semester so you know whatis due every week.

Great Class! There is an assignment due every class, some are big, most are small. You do have to be on time b/c she quizzes you on your reading but its basically what you liked about the chapters. You get credit for the assignments if you meet the criteria, in the end you revise all your papers and put it in your e-portfolio. Easy A if you work!

I wouldn’t say she is a bad teacher, but her assignments were NUMEROUS and yielded little reward. She believes in a more “modern” teaching approach, frequently giving students the opportunity to voice their opinions. If you are a serious English/Philosophy student, I would not recommend her class.
