Unfortunately, this class isn't running again. It was Comedy in 3d (meaning you act out comedic plays) It was a cool hybrid of a lit. class and theater. Farber was an amazing professor to work with. He wasn't to heavy on the reading but his expectations are pretty high. It was refreshing not having your traditional English class.

I had to take it as a GE so I had no interest in the class. By the end of the first week I was looking forward to the class. You have to do the reading and it is a bit of reading at times but it is worth it. The assignments are not difficult. Great class over all and a great professor.

Great teacher. Attendance was mandatory, and you had to do the work, but the books he makes you read are the kind of books that make your brain grow in ways you never imagined. Music days are awesome, lectures are enjoyable, and he's hilarious to top it off. Highly Recommend taking his class.

This was the hardest class I have ever taken. The reading along took at least ten hours a week. But, I've never come away with more from a class. If you don't take Farber, you're wasting your time at state.

Proust was a LOT of reading. But he really knows his stuff. He's engaging, intelligent, and loves to talk to his students. I'll be taking another class with him in the Spring. I wish I had discovered him sooner (I graduate in May). You'll work hard in his class, but it is so worth it. Once you figure out what he wants, it gets a little easier.

This teacher is amazing. You have to work really hard in this class (about 12 hours a week for the readings alone; I'm not kidding) but he's very worth it. You're not allowed to miss more than one class without a drop in your grade- but why would you want to? He's so inspiring. I heard his class next semester will be over 12 hours of outside work!

I'm a grad student who's taken three classes with him. Farber is my role model of what a professor ought to be. He's brilliant, funny, he's totally dedicated, and he keeps it real. Oh, and he is utterly respectful and fair to his students.

He's a good lecturer, but needs to stick to the kiddie lit. Shouldn't be teaching advanced intellectual material. Grades on essay quizes are based on his interpretation of the readings only. Regardless if you make a point, if it's not his, it's not acceptable. He's a grade-nazi (like the soup-nazi). Unacceptable! No soup (good grade) for you!

Doesn't really encourage opinions different from his own preconceived ideas. I brought up my own literary interpretation, he told me I was wrong, and when I showed him the validity of my position he no longer wanted to talk about it. He may be great for undergrads, but needs to learn how to teach graduates.

This man inspired me on a daily basis. His enthusiasm makes the literature come alive. I know I sound cheesy, but it's true. EVERYONE should take him at least once before they graduate. It may be a bit of a challenge at first if you're not familiar with versification, but what's great is that you actually learn in this class. Highly recommended!!

Do not leave SDSU without taking a class with him. Can't give enough effusive praise about his brilliance. I wish he could teach most of my classes. One of the few teachers I have had that are successful outside of teaching but still love it. And that's exactly it -- he loves teaching and it shows (by teaching I mean the act, not the job).

I took Professor Farber's class on 1960's Literature and was blown away -- great teacher, great information, great passion. He wrote "Student as N-gger," which every student should check out, if they haven't already. (I edited N-gger for political correctness; however, that IS the title of his book. Rock on!

Best professor Ive ever had! He's brilliant and amazing to listen to. Im so sad not to be able to take anymore classes with him! Lots of reading, but worth the effort. Not too much work if you keep up with the reading (in class journals based on reading makes up a lot of your grade). Honestly, best teacher and one of the best men Ive ever known!
