Weekly reading quizzes based on average 100+ pages per week. Although he is nice and tries to help, he gives poor feedback on grading for the quizzes. The marks do not reflect the work put into them. Essays are laid out for you but don't expect to receive more than a B, he failed a third of the class. Goodluck!

had him a couple of years ago. Hated the class because of him. He's not the worst prof I've ever met, but definitely ranks up there as one of the worst. Boring, repetitive and will only listen to students who share his view or repeat the same thing he does.

The best prof I have encountered by far. He is an incredibly intelligent man who really knows what he is teaching. Weekly quizes do tend to be a burden, and he does mark hard, but the course it totally worth it. He makes you think critically and will forever transform your thought process. I wish him all the best.

Amazing. Actually teaches you to read and think critically on race issues. Doesn't push an agenda, presents many sides for you to decide where you stand. Extemely willing to help each student to do good and better themselves. A life-changer. Inspiring.

Amazing prof! Extremely helpful when you need help. Really wants you to use your brain when reading 100+pages of readings each week. Just remember: do ALL the readings and don't miss a class and you at least will leave that class with a B!

Ginsburg is one of a kind. He tries to get to know his students rather than see them as numbers. The course is very interesting. You have to do all of the readings due to weekly reading quizes (and there is a lot, but not surprising for a 3rd year history course). But if you do the readings & come to class, you'll be fine!

Amazing professor. It really shows when someone is there because he likes to teach and not just for the grants that will allow him to publish. I really enjoyed his class and his teaching methods, easy to approach. Reading quizzes ensured you did the work, making it easier to be successful. Looking forward to taking his other classes...

Prof Ginsburg is by far the best one I've come across at York so far. He challenges you and teaches you more about history that just facts...You will come out of his class with a better knowledge of how to study history and the desire to learn more. He is very accomodating and a nice guy, out to help the students...very rare in a prof...!

This course was the most interesting course I've ever taken in my life! Prof. Ginsburg is an amazing teacher who challenges you to question history and to not just accept it. He makes you work hard but, you honestly come out of the course as a better student.

Best Prof I've ever had. He really cares about his students, he is helpful and approachable. He makes his students work hard for their marks. Although, he is a hard marker, you know exactly why you got the marks you did. He makes the class enjoyable and exciting (with the exception of the weekly reading quizzes).It was a wonderful experience.

Fanstastic human, works with students to bring out the best in their ability, organized and great lecturer. After completing this course, you are set for success throughout the rest of your studies. Although overwhelming, in the first year, he's one you'll remember holding your degree.
