Comment:

Do not take this class if you like your GPA... He is one of the smartest people I have ever met, but he is an awful teacher. The classes are long and boring. There are no tests quizzes, only papers which he grades very harsh. I went to his office hours many times and he did not help me in the slightest.

I was very intimidated at first and slightly bored but it gets very interesting. He is a genius, knows everything about everything in history, but he can be a bit polarizing if you don't know as much as he does (which is impossible). Overall though he is a great professor and this is a great class to take to fulfill the requirement.

Took his class 20 years ago looked him up just to see if he was still around. He was extremely smart and knows everything. Very hard to get an A, but if you show up and do you work you won't fail. Was one of the few prof's I remember. If you like history he can be very interesting to listen to. Is friendly if you try to get to know him.

Honestly, I've never hated history as much as I hated this class. No tests or quizzes but all he does is lecture the entire class. He goes up to you and asks you a question and makes you feel like an idiot if you don't know the answers (which hardly anyone would ever get right). Occasional papers but he will never give an A.

he knows everything relating to history, the arts, and language. by everything i mean everything. he does put you on the spot quite often. if u dont know the answer he will just watch you squirm for a while.despite the reports i got from his history students he was always easy going with his latin class. if you take him u better know ur material

alright so this guy really isnt that bad...no tests, 2 page papers due once a week and he will basically write it for you if you are willing to meet with him. he knows his stuff and i learned a lot. yeah he puts you on the spot but if you skim the reading before the class and follow him youll be fine...nice guy if you are willing to talk too

He knows pretty much everything there is to know. But can put you on the spot and shames you if you don't know the answer. But it doesn't really matter. No tests, and weekly 2-page essays. Average grader, won't give you an A, though, because he doesn't consider anything perfection. Boring lectures in class. But it's an easy class to get through.

horrible horrible teacher. do NOT take this class. had him for themes this semester, worst class in my schedule. he is degrading and biased. he thinks we actually care about history as much as he does. makes you write an essay once a week. he puts you on the spot and expects you to know the answer. i hated this class. dreaded going to it.

He knows a lot about history. But, he's a professor who's been teaching for over 40 years. He SHOULD know a lot. It's his JOB. He was an insulting man who put you on the spot to answer questions. Even if your answer was right, it wasn't RIGHT. Get it? i.e. For our 1st paper he asked us: "What is history?" I got a "B" on my paper. Enough said.

At first I though he was one of those professors who talked down to you like they know everything, but then I realized he does know everything and has even been known to predict the future. He has a passion for flashin... oh yea and history. Great class I highly recommend Jerry God White.

Professor White is a extremely bright individual who surrounds himself around knowledge. If you want to know the modern history of any region of the world, Mr. White is your man. Super supportive of students finding their direction in life, and using his class as a gate way towards doing so. His office hours are great, and he loves to be visited.

Definitely take this class! Took it as an honors course, and it is a really interesting class. He has such an extreme passion for the opera, and all he wants is to share his interest and knowledge of it. He just wants to hear your opinion on things, so you can easily get an A. a reaction paper to every opera you see and a final 10 pg paper- easy!
