Weekly lectures were awesome. She goes over all the details of the programs and then your homework is based on those programs. There are 2 programs and 1 online quiz due a week. Do not miss the lectures as she explains everything for hw and for the quizzes and tests as well. There are only 2 exams which are challenging but no surprises, imo.

Granted I am not a computer science major, I struggled with this class. You have to have a general understanding of the basics of programming before you get sucked into this. If you miss a step, you will get left behind and she will get frustrated with you. Lots of quizzes that are difficult. Not worth it for a 100 level course.

Her accent is sometimes hard to understand but that doesn't get in the way of learning the topics. Weekly assignments for homework, 3 tests throughout the semester, and a mixture of pop-up & open-note quizzes throughout as well. She gives good feedback. Attendance is not mandatory, however, some quizzes require a password that she gives in class.

Mrs. Ma is a very organized professor and knows how to pace herself to end class on time. It takes a few weeks to get used to her accent. She uses pop quizzes in order to track attendance. Overall, not too hard of a class, just pay attention during class and put in the work outside of class. She made us get a textbook but we never used it.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Very hard to understand her accent. Tests are hard and the homework takes me and my roommate at least 2 hours to complete every week. If you try and ask questions, she gives you an indirect answer and shy's away from actually helping. Treats class as a level 300 class, supposed to be an intro class.

For a 100 level class, the amount of homework makes me feel like it should be a 400 level. Her accent makes it very difficult to follow her in class, and she isn't happy when you ask questions/get lost. The trainings are the only thing that has saved me this semester, since I wound up teaching myself. And don't expect her to be organized either.

Awful teacher. You can barely understand her accent and there is a clear language barrier when you ask her questions. Tests were so hard and nothing like the reviews she gave. The pop-quizzes were difficult. The homework assignments would take HOURS to complete with the tutors. This is supposed to be an intro class, but it doesn't feel so easy.

I took her for my very first java programming course. I had zero experience, besides minimal Python skills. She can be hard to understand, but she does a lot of her teaching through examples-something I wish my other professors would do a lot more of.

Professor Ma is often hard to understand. The homework assignments are very long and the lectures take forever. She is a very nice lady and I recommend taking her/this class for an easy A/B.

Dr. Ma is definitely tough. HOWEVER, she uses everything in java codes as examples for the class and gives you the blueprint on how to finish your assignments. She apparently assigns the most assignments in all the intro java courses which helps reinforce your knowledge of the course. Do not skip class!

There are weekly assignments and quizzes but assignments have very clear instructions and are very easy to complete, however they can be time consuming. Quizzes are also very straight forward. There are three exams that look very similar to the homework assignments for each section. None of the tests are cummulative. She is very punctual!

gives you very detailed examples to do your assignments so it makes assignments easy. Quizzes once a week and 2 exams. Very easy class. But you must be in class for the online quizzes and she doesn't tell you when they will be.

I felt that the material was easy for me to understand, but I noticed that everyone in the class was different. She adequately relayed concepts to the class, but had a bit of an accent but for me it was no problem. She also lets you retake the pop-quizzes, that you missed, if you ask politely after class. She was able to get me interested.

She is not the greatest math professor, but she is not the worst. Her english is kind of difficult to understand, but you get used to it. She is willing to help you when you have questions, and she is a pretty fair professor; however, if you are someone who greatly struggles with math, I would suggest a different professor.

Her English was difficult to understand at first but you get used to it eventually. If you just follow along with the programs she does in class and save them, they will make all the assignments very easy for you. If you're struggling with an assignment, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS!! She is probably the most helpful teacher I've ever had.

She is overall a good professor, she has a powerpoint that you can follow along with if you cant understand her. She will help you out on things if you ask. You have a quiz daily to track attendance and they start out really easy and towards the end the glass average will sag but as long as you do the 5 assignments and the 2 exams youll do fine.

I'm taking CS162, and her English isn't the best, but she tries really hard. She has powerpoint step by step instructions for everything, and goes over all of the material prior to you doing the assignment. Quizzes almost daily, not too hard. Midterm was long, and rather tricky. Over all not to bad for a computers class!
