Comment:

Helpful podcasts , minimal notes, and a cheap self written textbook, what more do you want? Participation in online discussions is mandatory, however the topic choices are intriguing enough to keep students engaged. Quizzes are right out of the textbook and the final is a mock trial essay. Overall, very easy course and quick to address concerns.

I loved taking this class online. The work assignments weren't overwhelming and it allowed me time to work on my other courses too. He is available to help and creates forums so we can ask questions. He also gave lots of opportunities for extra credit. If you don't pass, I don't know what to say. The class was easy to follow and fun.

Took Professor Marteney's online class for Communication 104 and his class was GREAT! His lectures were very clear and easy to understand. He uses humor which makes the class more fun. He gives MANY chances for extra credit! His class is easy to pass, stay on top of your assignments and make sure to log in daily and you'll be fine! Great teacher!

Took his class because I saw all the great reviews people left. Ended up regretting it instantly. His class is super hard and he gives a lot of assignments. I'm not saying that he shouldn't, because its college and i expect it, but he is by far one of the toughest graders I've come across. Was taking a lot of classes so this was a big NO from me.

Seriously if you work full time or have a demanding job I would not recommend his online course. Maybe it's just me as he generally has great reviews on this site but I found this class very time consuming for things that you already know and honestly as an adult I found it very tedious. It's an easy A if you have time all 7 days a week to log in.

He's an EXCELLENT teacher. I'm a teacher, and I took his class about how to use Canvas, a new online system--and he modeled for me how to teach, reminding me of what's important: validating students by prompt and constructive feedback, quickly answering messages, and keeping class interesting.

Overall this class was interesting and you can tell the professor is very passionate about the material. Most of the class consists of weekly discussions with a few quizzes and assignments thrown in. This was not a difficult class, but sometimes the professor is not very clear with what he wants. Gives lots of extra credit, so an "A" is pretty easy

Make sure you participate in the discussions and you HAVE to reply to someone by Sunday, otherwise you lose points. That bugged me because online classes are supposed to be flexible. Quizzes and discussions are pretty easy. Log in daily because you might miss something, as this teacher isn't too organized. He has things all over Etudes.

Took online and found him to be confusing at times. It seems he made what was fairly simple much more complicated than it needed to be. This course could have been taught in a 3-4 weeks, but he seemed to stretch it out to a full semester with a lot of filler. He has numerous errors in his course materials, both online and his self written book.

super easy class, like 10 percent extra credit, easy assignments, discussions and quizzes. Got an "A" without even trying. easiest speech class for an "A" you will ever get. It is not much work as others say, very little work, maybe 3 hours a week of work to get an "A," maybe less. highly recomend

He is such a good professor. Took him for his online comm 104 class. He wrote his textbook which is really easy to understand. He makes his online discussions so interesting, you get hooked. He does require a lot of work but he gives extra credit, lots of it. Take him if you can!!

Marteney's online argumentation class is awesome. It's work but you end up learning so much. You participate by message boards, you take quizzes weekly and you have 4 hw asssignments. He gives you plenty of time.The "modules" are intresting online lectures and the textbook is clear and easy to understand.Do get the book,you need it for the quizzes.

I loved this teacher! He his the first professor at lavc I can actually say that I learned a lot from him. He uses a different method than most. Incorporating YouTube videos to get the point across and always keeping the students attention. Quizes were based on the book, the book that he wrote. He's very informative. Great class!
