This class covers the large history of journalism, and Sernoe accommodates class schedule based off discussion and time allotment throughout the semester. Is very understanding, but harsh when it comes to deadlines. Don't be late or miss a deadline for an assignment. Most of the grade comes from a Pulitzer Prize research assignmentSO INTERESTING!!

Lots of homework outside of this class, but lots of discussion in class to understand the material. Buy an AP Stylebook and this will be your A to the class. Do the work, and get an A. He offers tons of extra credit. As a person, I love Dr. Sernow so much. Understanding, kind, compassionate, encouraging. Lots of laughs whenever I speak with him!

He is very fair, understand, and does NOT want to get in your business. He expects you to be an adult, if you can't handle that go back to High School. I always enjoy his classes and love participating in the open discussions we have. Assignments are interesting and fairly challenging as well.

Very intelligent professor who can convey ideas clearly. Yes he expects you to be on time, yes he expects you to be able to spell, and yes he expects you to be involved. If you are actually going into Mass Comm. all of those things are required in the real world. Deal with it. If you don't have the time to devote to the class, don't sign up for it.

He expects you to show up to class on time, which is understandable since college is meant to prepare you for the real world. Jobs won't wait around for you to show up when you want to. He is extremely fair and always willing to help those who pay attention and actually try to learn the material. You will leave his class having learned the material

doesnt seem to understand that students have lives outside his class, which include other classes and assignments. missing one class doesnt mean youre irresponsible, it means you had to do something that day and do not wish to share your personal business with your professors.

I am in the class now and i really love it. I can relate to everything were talking about. I feel like im actually learning and obtaining the info! I love that he hates multiple choice test and scantrons... the real world is not made of them!

I took the honors intro class in the fall of 2002 and had him for a part of it. I loved his teaching and lecture style. He was very knowledgable about his field and you could tell he really enjoyed what he did and studied.

Sernoe is the best prof I've ever had, and I've had my share of them. I agree with the posts that some kids need to realize they are in college. As Sernoe says, "The news does not start at 10:01." Get to class on time. I don't care if you have transportation or not...if you know it's a 15 minute walk to school, then leave your house on time to get to class on time. It should be a requirement in ALL classes. He's extremely understanding and is the psychologist of the department.

Sernoe seldomly has tests; he does to frequent pop quizzes over the reading, but even then there is never very much reading. It's a discussion class so it's great if you're opinionated. Great reference for communication careers. Never any tests, just pop quizzes, discussion, and lecture. Fun class!

One of the best profs at MSU. He demands a lot from students, but it's worth it when you know you earned the grade at the end of the semester. Even though I've graduated, I can still call and ask him for advice when it comes to my job or punctuation...
