If you are taking this class then focus on MASTERING basic programming concepts and you'll do fine. Attendence not mandatory & you can get A by only showing up on Exam days. Lectures are easy to go over your head but interesting if you like programming. Tutoring sessions available daily - you have no excuse of not getting at least a C

Dr. Seki is a really intelligent professor. She knows her material very well but her approach to teaching the material isn't that great. Department should reconsider having her teach an intro into csci class. Would be a great professor if you are a csci major.

Great professor! With her you're really going to know the subject. She is very helpful, will spend with you as much time as you need during office hours. And there is no need to complain about how tough it is, it has to be so, you are not in kindergarten, it's university!

Professors say that they don't take these comments seriously. So I guess that means they don't take the students seriously. Makes sense to me. They way these professors teach the class. I can only say that they are cheating the students. Reason why we have so much talk about rebuilding the education system.

A required course in comp languages, with very little chance of using.In her class C=A, after that it is up to what she thinks of you. This class really suck. Came in with an open mind. Left feeling very bitter about even being a comp sci major.

Dr. Seki is not a good instructor by any means, but she doesn't seem that bad when you've had teachers like Dr. Yeung and Lan Jin. She will at least try to teach you the material and seems like she actually cares about you learning, unlike the other professors I mentioned. She gets frustrated often and isn't very good at putting ideas into words.

Shes the greatest professor out there, very clear, perfect english, all her tests are extremely easy, so easy i cried. Very good at using metaphors to convey lecture material in ways more than one student can understand. Extremely polite and respectful, makes you feel like you are the smartest out there and very motivational.

First note: The material is difficult. Second note: I do not recommend taking CSCI 119 from Dr. Seki, teaching year after year, without rotation. Teaching methods are not "current" (on white board). "Required" text has no material references. Limited exercises to show concrete answers on tests, by extension. Not a good experience.

I have never had a better teacher, nor have I met anyone more competent. Her courses may not be the easiest, but you know that you?re learning when you take them. Incredibly helpful outside of class as well. My only complaint is that more courses don?t give you the option of taking her!

Challenging class but she will put in a really good effort. Lots of work but it makes you better in the end. Just don't miss lab and try to understand the meaning of 'this'. One of the better instructors on campus.

Seki is extremely difficult. This was my 4th class with her. There is a huge language barrier. Hated going to class in case she will call on you then "make fun" of you if you're wrong. The good thing is that EVERYONE gets bad grades and she grades on a curve.

VERY INTELLIGENT PROF, BUT NOT VERY GOOD AT CONVEYING INFORMATION (I.E. TEACHING). GETS FRUSTRATED WITH STUDENTS EASILY. SHE KNOWS THE SUBJECT MATERIAL VERY WELL, JUST DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO RELAY IT IN MORE THAN ONE FACET. IN OTHER WORDS, IF YOU DON'T LEARN BY HER TEACHING METHODS (DISCOVER EVERYTHING YOURSELF) YOU AREN'T GOING TO LEARN MUCH.
