Wonderful Professor. Helpful, interesting and never talks down to his students. I would highly recommend taking a course with him, he will change your educational life! He clearly loves his job and his students. I would take from him a hundred times over. Definitely made me happy to be an English major. Please take from him if you can!

Still a boss. The course could easily be very gross but he keeps it interesting. Good amount of writing, but you won't be taking this unless you have to most likely, so I wholeheartedly recommend taking with him. He's always in his office and always willing to help.

Jim Swafford has been one of my favorite professors throughout college. He's extremely enthusiastic about his subject material, likes to draw students into his lectures with relevant activities (like showing the class what Victorian money looked like), and help out students with advice and encouragement both inside and outside of class.

Going to Swafford's class always put a smile on my face, which was a bit of surprise at first. Ancient Lit could have been a real drag, but Swafford brought immeasurable enthusiasm to the subject matter. He is engaging, insightful, and treats every student as an equal, delving into the text and learning right along with us.
