Reminds me of a tyrant. Not understanding or flexible at all. Class was boring and not worth attending since you can get the notes online. Stay away and take someone else.

I absolutely loved her, she made the subject matter so interesting. It was as if she was painting you a picture, that is how well she portrayed the subject. Her witty comments and subtle humor made the class the highlight of my day.

She is clear with her lectures and isnt too bad on the eyes. her tests consist of a midterm and a final, with 2 small review lists. also her essay questiosn on the test cover very broad topics. take this cl

Very knowledgeable. Her tests aren't difficult either, if you do the work (and there's not much of it) you'll be fine. Light reading.

Dr. Ames is very enthusiastic about her teaching. She making history, the topic that's usually boring, really fun and interesting. The class is in lecture hall, so your grads all depends on the TA. Midterms and finals are both worth 30%:10 matching and 2 our of 3 essays. Very good class!!! Take it!

Interesting lectures, she knows her stuff. Only 8 assignments all year. 2 review lists and 6 reading and response type activities. Attendance isn't required but recommened. Your grade depends on what TA you get so if you get a bad one, try and switch.

She is an awesome teacher! The lectures I will admit can be a bit monotonous, though informative, especially paired w/the book. I really enjoyed the discussion sections with the TAs; they are extremely informative and give me an extra viewpoint of the particular history we are learning about.

Passionate about history. Talks A LOT. Organized lectures, but they teach you very little. Don't need to go to class, but you need to study TERMS for her test. Mainly just have some creative thinking for her tests.

She is a very knowledgeable historian, but a hard teacher. Make sure you get a good TA because your grade rides on how he/she grades your tests and homework. The work load is very minimal, but it is not an easy "A". It's worthwhile if you want

I took professor Caldwell in the Fall of 2002 and she was tough. She changed her grading in the Spring of 2003 because people did so horrible in the Fall. She was easier in the Spring and would recommend her to anyone that wants to actaully learn.

If you're looking for an easy A without working, look elsewhere. If you're looking to learn, I highly recommend her. She knows her material extremely well, and presents it in a clear manner. She's not as hard as everyone says...and she's a great teache

Not as easy as other intro professors. no study guide for midterm or final so you have to memorize everything. Her TA's grade hard on papers. Not an easy A. take Hull.
