She genuinely tries to make sure you understand the material she is very knowledgeable about the grammar and is a good teacher! and she is a fair grader i mean even if i missed the gender she would give me some credit for remembering the vocab... She pushes you to memorize those rules and vocab. SHOW UP TO CLASS . and yes buy the text book.

Russian may be about the most difficult language to learn, but she puts in a ridiculous amount of effort to ensure that you understand her class. If the textbook is unclear she will prepare a handout to explain it, if you are struggling she will gladly meet with you. She is understanding of your issues. Difficult class, but it's not hard to do well

Russian is a tough language obviously, but Dr. Kot explains it clearly and is willing to give time outside of class to help. Amazing that she runs the whole program by herself.

Comment:
This class seems scary at first but learning a new language is difficult. If you do the homework and study it really isn't that bad. Stick it out, the first couple weeks is the scariest but if you keep at it and do the work it is actually a really good class with a great professor.

I took many classes with Professor Kot. She is a very good teacher, who really cares about her students. Kot expects a lot out of her students, so if you want to be in a blow off class her's is not one of them. She knows her subject very well, and is always willing to help. As for her exams, they are difficult but not impossible. She is very fare!

She spent more time on stories from her time in Russia than on explaining how to tell the difference between masculine and feminine, assumed everyone was of some slavic background and didn't need to know the very basic stuff. In the culture class she never explained what she wanted and then marked you off for it. Missed a ton of classes

Great teacher. Very clear and understanding when in comes to missed assignments. Will work with your schedule. The reason she misses class is because the lovely dean of NIU won't give her another Russian teacher or even a TA. she does it all RU 101 to RU 48
