Hist of Graphic Design: Such a sweetheart and an amazing instructor. If you have a problem about something, talk to her about it cause she will do anything she can to help you out. TA grades the papers & she is tough/unapproachable, so talk to Joanna if you have any questions about your papers. She looks at the whole class when it comes to grading.

Caring and very respectful professor. SHE HAS MIDTERM/FINAL REVIEW SESSIONS the day before the exams where she pretty much gives you the answers. Show up to those. One writing assignment (She grades very generously). 3 exams on a curve Easy A Easy-Moderate B. SUPER easy C (You probably won't go this low ) Got B+ without reading book or trying

She knows how to engage students and makes class fun. Has a clear vision of what students should learn and knows how a student life may be so she tries to make us comfortable as possible. I would take her again. 2 tests (tests are easy), 5 one page papers spread out through the semster, and a poster project at the end of the semester. TAKE HER.

Honestly, I haven't had a professor as caring and inspirational as Prof. Roche. If you are taking art history for the first time, you may have different opinions because its such a broad subject. But, Roche definitely knows her material, has solid expectations of her students, and will put the extra effort for you. Amazing professor.

Spring 2016- Really Nice instructor. Had a few readings from 2 different books. You meet once a week so the Hw load isn't that bad. She really does an amazing job of explaining contemporary work, so if you're looking for someone to take I highly suggest her, she's a good professor.

Joanna is an amazing professor and person. She cares deeply about her students and gets to know them when she can. She has an endless amount of knowledge about Art History and has great lectures. I took the Art World class. I really enjoyed taking her class because we had guest lecturers (artists within the different art fields) talk about their experiences. Expect to read a lot, reading assignments are enjoyable. No tests, which was a plus. Expect to write a 7-10 page ethnography paper about an experience with a professional in your field.

This was one of my most interesting classes ever. I gained a huge interest for the history of graphic design. The semester flew by. She has you write concise one page papers. Loved the class, would take again if I didn't have to worry about a grade!

I loved this class! Dr Roche makes topic even more interesting,& now I am minoring in Art History. She has genuine interest in students,kind,generous, genuine.Go to class, read pages assigned,take notes, you should do fine. 3 tests+final, all curved, 1 paper. She may proofread your paper if time before it is due,which helped my grade.

She is understanding and favors/helps a lot more if you go to class. If you attend every class you should get an A. Rarely used the book because her class is 99% based on her lectures. Lecture can be a bit boring, but you will learn so much :)

She is very on top of art news, every beginning of class she lets us talk about galleries we have been to and what is going on in the art world. She is very personable and learns everyone's names even though there are over 100 students in the class. Need an art history? Take this class!!

Really interesting class, she has a great personality and sense of humor. Make sure to study the lecture images she posts online. They are the ones that will be on the test! My mistake was I studied ALL of them in the book. Did better on the second exam.

Extremely Helpful! Did horrible on first exam and was worried about my grade. Talked to her and received tons of help. She made class interesting and helps her students out as much as possible. She truly wishes for you to succeed and get a good grade. Also answers emails quickly. Def. Recommend this professor..She rocks.
