He is quite pompous at times but his lectures are amazing. He talks about things most professors wouldnt. A class on poetry turned into a class about life lessons and philosophy which may be offputting to some but I throughly enjoyed it!

One of the best teachers i have ever had! Yes his class is easy and you will probably get an A, and yes he does talk about himself a lot but he has so much great advice to give his students. You probably never have had a professor like this and probably never will. He really is brilliant. Take it all in.

Professor told Summer 2013 class that Fall 2013 will be his last year teaching. This was the most laid-back professor and class I've ever taken. We could write anything. Great practice for oral presentations/public speaking because the class is so relaxed. Didn't have to worry about parts of speech, paper structure, etc. Easy "A"

Easiest class I've ever taken, was 3 hours at night, but was only once a week so I could deal with it, he was quite boring, and only talked about himself but as long as you kept up with the assignments and knew what they were you were ok. Got an A no problem. Definitely recommend his class for an easy A.

While a lot of fun and full of great stories, he gets off track often. He's a bit distant when it comes to his students' work, but if he's interested in a particular story, he's super involved! Make sure to absorb his stories about his life, they're awesome, and something to think about after class. You can learn a lot from him.

His teaching is nothing short of wonderful! He truly explores the psychology behind the stories. Also, he explains how to adapt the different story structures into your own writing! Grading is easy, if you put some work into the class you will have no problem passing with an A. Would recommend him to anyone thinking of an engl writing class

Spent the first four weeks of the semester only talking about his books. He would not extrapolate on his assignments, only spending a minute explaining what to do. Also, said the expression "that's old hat" at least several times a class. As if he was trying to make that phase literally hackneyed. Would write more but 350 word limit. Withdrew...

SUPER EASY. this teacher is very easy. he's very very boring and i had a 4 hour class with him over the summer and it was painful to sit through cuz he talks all of himself but i got an A and didn't have to do barely any work. if you want a class thats insanely easy take him!

Took his classes years ago but I will never forget him. English ended up being my major in a 4 year school and his classes were a great foundation. His classes were fun and challenging and gave the opportunity to be creative. Listen, learn, and stay out of the obituaries. One of the best HVCC educators and a really nice guy.

Joe is a really easy going professor who loves his work. Taken three classes with him now and I highly suggest him to anyone who has to take any English class that he teaches.
