I dropped this class quick even though I'm an extreme fan of history and had spend hundreds of $ on the MANY books. His grading criteria and writing expectations are non existent and he grades in a very deceptive manner, asking you to compare and contrast a philosophical writer with street gossip and graffiti in an un-ironic way. Pretentious.

He is a very smart man but can go pretty fast with his lectures. He spends most of his time on the night before homework and then quickly gets through his lessen at the last 10 minutes of class. You will have quizzes basically every class period. I found that when I went for help he never went over any material, just told me what I could do better.

Great professor! He takes his time and makes sure you understand the concepts before moving on. Be ready to take a quiz at the beginning of every class except exam day. Sounds bad but the quizzes are only 2 questions and he tell you what to study beforehand. Exams are the quizzes + sentences and an essay. Study and ask questions and you'll do well!

Romero definitely isn't the easiest Latin professor. He'll push you and drill you on grammar, but you really do learn a lot and learn it well. He sticks to a routine, so you usually know what to expect from him. He's personally invested in the success of his students and he truly LOVES Latin.

Absolutely love this guy! Had him all the way from 101 to 202. He's a lot of fun, really nice, very clear on everything, no surprises on the material, willing to help. I don't care much about Latin, but I loved his class so much. I almost wish I was studying classics so I could have him again! Hands down one of my favorite professors ever!

Prof. Romero was difficult but a fair grader. I came in with no knowledge of Latin beforehand and made out really well. It was tough, this 101 was my hardest, but it's worth it.

Professor Romero is one of the best professors at Mary Washington. If you attend class and ask for help he is always there answer or guide. He isn't a pushover- you do have to work. But he always tried to help. His lectures are clear and he really loves his material- he gets so excited! And he's kinda cute too.

Worst class that I have taken at Mary Wash. He doesn't post grades on canvas so you never know how your'e doing. There is a quiz everyday, and you get a 0 if you're absent, so try not to get sick, ever. Tests are exceptionally difficult. I took 5 years of latin before taking this class and he has still managed to make this class nearly impossible..

My Favorite Professor so FAR! I liked the subject, Greek Myth/History, but during this class I realized that I loved it! He made it fun! Even if you couldnt understand what the book said, he would put into modern terms for you! You have to read and listen in class but YOU WANTED TOO! Loved it!

Romero's a cool guy. His lectures can be dull sometimes but its Greek mythology so you're gonna stay awake (trust me.) Tests were exactly on what he said they would be JUST BE SURE TO BE IN CLASS ON THE DAY ITS GIVEN. Do your readings and journals and you'll get at the absolute very least a B.

Romero is a great professor. He explains everything very well, and keeps going over the basics to make sure you understand them. Come to class, because he does take attendance daily. Also do the translations because they show up on the test. Best latin professor at UMW.

I had him for the Sex and the Ancient City FSEM and he was great. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about his subject. He expects you to work hard and doing the readings is not optional! He's very friendly and helpful during office hours and even had us schedule meetings with him to help us with our final research paper.

i took the FSEM Sex and the Ancient City with Romero. Really nice guy! He's verrry intelligent and can be a little intimidating at first but is very helpful, and not a very hard grader. Likes to go on tangents. Definitely read the books bc he can tell is you BS! Overall the class is fun, only con is the final paper. Great professor!

Interesting class. Romero's lectures could get boring at times, but just do the readings and papers to pass. Five papers 5pg papers, a couple map quizzes and a couple dates quizzes. He was really vague about the material on the final, to the point of unfairness. Best as a summer gen-ed requirement.

Excellent professor- my favorite thus far at UMW. The class is a lot of work, but really stimulating if you actually try. Go to class and tutoring and he'll do everything in his power to help you pass. Really witty and intelligent without being condescending. Do the translations.

Was moderately interested in information prior to taking class, but his enthusiasm is infectious. He's a very clear, literally writing notes on the board to accompany the lectures/power points. If you're present in class, and read the required texts there's no way to go wrong. He's great to look at too.

Heavy use of books. Two exams and one final. Too much info on each test not clear on what's on the test. One paper was horrible he was so all over about what he wanted. Great lectures, was very excited about his material. Swears alot. Might have something against Christianity. Don't take if u need an easy filler. Structures class like a language course.

Very hard for an intro class. Two papers, both take considerable work and effort, but you can get a good grade if you cite the book like crazy-the more footnotes the better. Tests arent too bad if you study what he goes over in class and the side readings. I did have trouble staying awake though.
