He cares about his students and if you cant hand in something on time (not cuz you procrastinated) hes super understanding and supportive. His lectures can get a little heavy but he knows this and can give help on assignments and exams to direct you how and where to study afterward. If you pay attention and give him attention hell return the favour

One of the best profs out there hands down. Need to meet outside of class? He's available. Need feed back on essays or non-class related projects? He's got your back. Having troubles getting stuff in on time? Super understanding. Need an good paced lecture? He's go it. Honestly I owe a lot to this guy just for being so amazing. 100/10

This course is quite difficult and the midterm is shockily difficult. I would recommend reading the textbook (which i did and still found it hard) and watch the films and know them inside out.

Sokalski's a nice guy. He knows his stuff and his lectures are like reading a Tolkien novel: lots of detail (sometimes too much), a little boring, but overall he takes you on a great journey. Unlike terrible profs like Hladki, Sokalski doesn't force his own subjective views on you. He is straightforward and historically knowledgeable.

I took every class offered by Dr. Sokalski. My notes are crystal clear because of how linear and organized he lectures. Extremely interesting classes. Some of the movies we watched still come up in every day conversation. Very supportive if you need help. I wish I could take more classes with him, but I ran out!

Extremely knowledgable in all areas of film and theatre. If you take his class more than once you realize that everything he says is useful and will be used on the exam. Study lecture notes and you're golden. He doesn't talk in circles, he's straightforward. Problem with a deadline? He's very lenient and will help you out. Best Prof EVER

Pretty decent prof, he has some good insights into film. He follows the textbook, but most of his ideas are his own. Tends to make up a lot of words, like "psychologicalized". Also, he says "as it were" at least 10 times per class. Other than that, he's pretty good.

A lot of my peers can't stand him, but clearly the only people who have negative things to say are the ones who get poor marks because of their neglect to do the assigned readings and pay attention. Joe outlines his lectures with headers and he follows them precisely, which makes it easier to take notes.

Dr. Joe is awesome. He talks really fast, which can be a bit annoying and I always leave his class with my wrist sore from all the notes, but he is good at what he does.Dr. Joe cares about his students and tries to get to know them. I'm just sad that he's not here this year, but can't wait until he's back next year!

He's a good prof because his lectures are very organized, you know exactly where you are going because he reviews what he has talked about. I liked how we discussed the films we watched in class. his voices and imitations are a little...strange, but also funny. Oh, and he's such a cutie with his little water cup, you want to give him hugs.

Seemed to try his hardest to make it NOT a bird course when it easily could have been. His jargon was killing me!! Takes him 50 words to explain something that could easily be done in 5. Horrible choice in screening movies, not because they were old but because they wont keep anyone's interest week after week. Exams were easy tho
