Comment:

Joe is very tough on his students but only because he wants you to succeed. He shows you it won't be easy in the real world and definitely doesn't baby you. However, he is an awesome professor who will help you if you ask for it. But you have to put in the effort. Will definitely take more classes with him.

Comment:

Awesome professor! Holds you accountable on a professional and successful level. Is very direct and will make you actually think and apply your knowledge. If you want it easy then don't take his class but if you want to actually reach your potential then definitely take his classes. No other professor I'd rather have.

Comment:

The professor is constantly telling the students that we are stupid if we don't study and asking us why we are in the class if we don't know certain answers to his questions. At first you can look pass this, but after while you just want him to actually teach the class and stop making fun of the students.

I personally enjoyed the class, but I hated his grading. He is super harsh, he gave me a 5 out of 15 in one of the sections of the test, the questions had three parts and I only got 1 wrong. When I asked him about it, he told me that my explanation wasn't good. On the final project I lost points in where I got the ratios from himself.

Timmerman is an amazing professor! He is super passionate about finance and the world. If you work hard and engage with the material inside and outside of the class you'll do well and learn a lot!

He is a very hard grader but an extremely effective teacher. The best business admin. prof at SUNY Potsdam. Will call you out if you are doing something other than partaking in the class. Pay attention, participate and study and you will do fine. Don't go to him asking for help and not make it look like you tried to figure it out yourself.

Definitely the best business professor at Potsdam. He is straight up with you, everything he does relates to real life, and if you study the notes for the tests you will do fine. Also I made the mistake of wasting my money for the finance book. You do not need it!

Finance was always a subject of interest to me. I took timmermans intro to finance and his investments class, and anyone who is interested in working in this field is wasting their time. He spends half the course scolding us for not studying enough, not using this time to teach... I aced my series7 exam thanks to 3 weeks of tutoring, not from Joe..

Average teaching skills, not all that helpful, doesn't care all that much about his students or the students he advises. I definitely do not recommend him at all. I definitely won't take another class with him. I have to to talk to him enough as it is because he's my advisor.

Timmerman is a good professor. He keeps the material interesting. He is a hard professor! You will not get a 4.0 in this class. Study every day! What he says is true, learning finance is like doing 2 a days in football. You need to practice it allllll the time!

Every College student with loans should take this class! This man truly cares about the economy and actually landing you a "real" job after graduation. NOT an easy course but once you get in a rhythm he basically lays everything in your lap for you to succeed. Best prof at Potsdam by far. (genetically incapable of lying too)

this is the best professor that SUNY Potsdam has to offer as far as the business department is concerned and most likely the whole school. He is straight up with you and the class is very hard. He's great. He'll tell you what real life is like and help you on your way. Unlike other profs. he chooses a text that will be useful later on. It's tough but go to class, take good notes, and study. He's always willing to help, just bear with him. His classes fill quickly so register early!
