Comment:

Really passionate about teaching French to his students. Offers a lot of opportunities for extra practice that you can turn into extra credit too. Weekly quizzes but he's generally an easy grader and offers corrections. Some people don't like his enthusiasm because I'll admit it is a lot but it does make the class a little more interesting

Funny guy, wants you to succeed and do well. Weekly quizzes, but he covers exactly what will be on it from the textbook. The more you participate the more he likes you.

I'm not the best at French but he has been very accommodating and I am doing well in the class because of how he weighs tests/quizzes, homework and participation. It also helps that he is very enthusiastic while teaching. Overall, Goldfield is a great professor and 10/10 would recommend!!

Very funny and helpful. Gives feedback very often and lets you revise your quizzes. Gave a quiz every other week. Although I respect him as a teacher, I didn't "click" with him and found the class difficult. I can easily see why other's like him though.

Dr. Goldfield was my favorite professor at Fairfield! He's hilarious, incredibly caring about his students, and really enthusiastic about all things French. He can be slightly disorganized at times, but utilize his office hours, and make sure you're keeping up with the textbook assignments, and you're golden.

Good guy. Very funny. Does make you work a lot. Online textbook is constantly used including online assignments. A lot of quizzes that include a lot of material. Will not pass if you don't study. Good thing is he let's you do test corrections to boost your grade up a little and he offers a lot of extra credit.

He is really energetic and if he wasn't jumping up and down the class would be so boring. It's not an easy class, it's a lot of graded work and he assigned a major oral presentation a week before it was due (frustrating!!) He is helpful in office hours but I just felt stupid in class. Its also really unstructured which makes it hard to take notes

A fantastic teacher...he is so enthusiastic about French and makes his students laugh and feel comfortable to speak and make mistakes. If you come to class and do the work, it will fly by. Highly highly recommended, one of the best teachers I've ever had!

Great teacher. Very enthusiastic, loves his job, interacts with students well. He gives a decent amount of work but if you put in the effort you will do well in the class. Nice guy, but don't ever take translation if you can avoid it. All of his comments are hit-or-miss and he usually makes you change your revisions back to what you originally had on a translation draft. Nice guy and effective in teaching, however translation is just impossible for the casual student to grasp.

he's awesome. very enthusiastic about french, and actually teaches. sometimes wkbk assignments can get excessive, but the class is great. plus it comes with a business component. he's the best prof you can get for this class.
