As long as you read the two chapters assigned each week and complete the questions that the instructor assigned regarding the chapter and complete discussion questions followed by a reply to 3 classmates. He does not accept late work and will not give you a chance to make things up! He will constantly remind you of what is due and when.

I absolutely recommend to take any of his classes. The guy really knows his stuff. Tons of experience in the Criminal Justice field. He will keep it real with you, I really have no complains, just make sure you do your homework and assignments on time. I've taken 3 classes with Maatman, hands down one of the best instructor so far.

He is great. Tells the funniest stories and makes the class memorable because he has great real life examples. I took the summer course which was two days a week for 3 hours each so I was dreading it in the beginning but I ended up really enjoying it. I would highly recommend him.

Prof. Maatman gets it. He is a very capable and knowledgeable instructor and knows his field. His experience with the LPD is ICSD only helps. He brings real life experience and scenarios to the class. Despite the fact that we're adults & we should have our act in order by now, he is nice enough to always send out reminders. Very hands-on approach for on-line classes. He provided weekly feedback on discussion boards. He will send out mid-week reminders about what is due. Covers testable material very well and gives writing assignments that take some research but are a great real-life learning experience. He enjoys teaching/will answer any questions you have about CJ.

Punctuality is not on his agenda. Class started at 6:10, said that if he wasn't there by 6:20 we could leave. Every week he arrived at 6:19, only to read an outline of our assigned reading from the week before. We also had to have this reading outlined and in a "logbook" for a grade. Outlines did the teaching. Lots of busy work with min. learning.

Very good class. Teacher is very good and that makes the class very easy. I took it online and the book is not really needed. Most things you can find on the internet, if you do get a book get any edition within the last 10 years it will work.

Mr. Maatmen is the best professor Ive had in the last 4 yrs. Take this course and enjoy it. You wont ever find another class like this again. He ruins it for all the other instructors!!! He's helpful, understanding, funny and wants to get to know you. Talk to him if you get the time...you can learn a lot from him!!

Best teacher I've had! Very clear in directions! Do your work and attend class and you will, without a doubt, 4.0 the class! VERY knowledgeable about the subject!!! Gets your mind working and thinking in ways you wouldn't normally. I def recommend Mr. Maatman! I'd love to take more of his courses!
