lots of lecturing not needed for the exam. too much reading with assignments due every class period. bad at assisting in class discussion. very tough grader and unclear as to why he grades that way. participation matters and perfect attendance may get you extra cred. nice guy though

This class is a ton of work with reading assigned every class period and reading quizzes every week. He expects us to read a chapter in the book plus 2 extra readings every week. Its a lot of busy work and his exams don't really follow his lectures. He lectures with lots of details but the exam is very basic. Lots of short answers and essays

I took this class for my honors sequence. Stillerman's a really nice guy, but he assigns a LOT of reading. He is willing to work with you if you ever have any issues. Fair grader when it comes to essays. Actually made this honors sequence enjoyable and I feel like I actually learned something from this class.

Hard grader, but worked with me when I had trouble on my paper (redo). This was an issues course, but I learned a lot. Read a lot of books with 1 memo due every week. Midterm and Final are easy! He gives you a great study guide so definitely complete it and you'll get an A. If you put in the effort, you should be fine!

Stillerman has def changed his class structure since the last few reviews. In the beginning, I found the class a little boring but once you get moving, the topics become really interesting and I learned a lot! There's a little bit of everything in this class (presentations, papers, readings, etc). If you make a genuine effort, you'll do fine.

Stillerman gives you reading memos due before EVERY class period, and grades harshly on them as well. He is always behind on grading. On the final exam day, there were still 6 assignments not graded. He also assigns three hard, time-consuming papers, and three exams that are very difficult. I would not recommend taking him for this course.

This professor was the WORST. Assignments due every class period that he grades very harshly on. He is extremely unfair with his grading. So much reading and his is super boring. Lectures drag on. Three papers and three extremely difficult exams. Do not take him!

Professor Stillerman gives 2 reading assignments per week plus an online memo, 3 essays and 2 exams (objective and essay). He is sometimes difficult to understand what hes trying to get across. Participation is 6% of your grade. However, the class was what you'd expect of an upper level soc class. I'd suggest him again though, just get ready to work

Professor Stillerman is a really nice guy. In order to pass you really have to come to class. He assigns some long readings, but they are worth the time. I learned soooooo much from this class that I can apply to everyday life. Taking this class really changed my perspective on things in a positive manner. He is great!

If you pay attention to all the readings you will never need to study for the midterm or final. It helps that the textbooks are relatively interesting. Lectures are pointless, but required, because he just repeats the textbook's information, but in not enough detail to substitute reading. Go to every class for an extra 2% on your final grade. EasyA

He was an alright professor. Every class was a basic lecture from a powerpoint with some class discussion here and there; I was usually pretty bored. Not very hard though as long as you study the study guide he gives for each test. Weekly online quizzes over the readings - lots of reading but you can get by skimming. Takes attendance everyday!

He does the standard lectures, tries to be a little engaging, but for the most part it's hard to stay awake. Participate because that factors into your grade! He does a good job of conveying the info and even posts lectures on BB. Tests aren't bad at all, they follow study guide to a T. Only thing I didn't like was how he weighted our grades.

Class is an open discussion (participation is graded) and he takes attendance. He gives quizzes each week that are due before the first class of the week. Reading is recommended, but you can get away with just skimming chapters. There are two papers, a midterm, and the final. Gives extra credit. Very nice guy!

Very helpful if you have a hard time understanding topics. Wish I had been more on top of reading the textbook in order to be more engaged in the interesting discussions that occurred.

He's very smart and know's what he's talking about. LOTS of reading every week, but once you read, the weekly quizzes are easy. Must go to lectures to pass the class I would say. Pretty straight forward on what's expected in the class. Overall wasn't bad, if I had to take it again, I would take it with him.

You have to go to class! Here's why: if you miss 2 your grade will not change, miss 3 you drop 2%, miss 4 you drop 4%, miss 5 and you drop 6%. See the pattern? It sucks but if you go to every class its + 2%. However, if you do the reading (which is a lot) you'll be fine. There will be online reading quiz every week- they are curved and not too hard

Weekly quizzes are easy, class can be kind of boring, and he will never let you out early. The papers are pretty easy, and he's always ready to help you with them. He looks like Randall from Monster's Inc. Moderately interesting class, but kind of awkward when no one reads the chapters. 2 free absences.

Great teacher! Very informative and will work with you to help you get the grade you think you deserve. Allows extra credit and make-up assignments. Class is a lot of work, but you will learn a lot about the subject.
