Be prepared before taking his class. He will discipline you as a journalist. Read textbook with his studyguide. Make the best plan to balance your routine. Ask questions if you don't understand. His class purposes to provide the learning experience, not torturing students. I'm sure you would be better at the end of the semester.

The most horrible professor I have ever had. He does NOT make it clear what he wants. If you fulfill the requirements on the instructions, he still takes off points because you didn't do more. Takes points off for no reason if he doesn't like you. He is the most condescending man I have ever met and he once said he will fail us if he gets a chance.

Professor Senat had to step in to teach my class for the rest of the semester because my original professor had a heart problem during midterm. I had an A before Senat stepped in. He is not clear on what he wants from you & then grades incredibly harsh. I do NOT recommend him. I never looked forward to the class once he took over.

Senat was the best professor I've had at OSU. He makes you want to learn, and even if his class is three days a week you never dread going. He's hilarious and knows his stuff better than any other professor. If you do the reading guides and study hard for tests you'll do fine. Learned more useful info in his class than I have in 3 years.

Hands down the best professor I've had at OSU. If I could have taken more of his classes I would have. TAKE HIM IF YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO LEARN. Don't if you're expecting an easy A. He has a lot of quizzes but they get the material in your mind. He gives out old tests and you can borrow notes from previous years as he doesn't change them year to year

This class is essentially the history of media and Senat's a great professor if you're serious about a career in journalism. Given that he has a history as a journalist, he wants his students to take the material seriously. Do the study guides, read the book and you should wind up with a solid A.

There's a pop quiz every class over the notes. The notes take a long time, but really help when tests come around. Make sure you do them so you pass the quizzes and don't have to rush through the material to study for tests. Lectures are sometimes irrelevant to the course. If he emails out lecture notes beforehand, there won't be a quiz!

I loved this class!! He is a very good teacher and really puts out ideas for the students in his lectures. It felt like there was a pop quiz almost every class period, but they weren't hard because it was open notes. He is very smart and educated and can help in almost any aspect of the media field. Just read the book, and pay attention in class!

He is clear when explaining topics, but he is really tough on tests and I had to drop out because of it. Plus, he has his own book and teaches from it to make things worst. Quizzes are hard and I think usually the quiz average is a 70ish and on the last test before I drop the class average was an 55.

I'm an upperclassman and took 1143 for a diversity credit. There is a TON of work that goes into preparing for lectures, but the class period itself is interesting and informative. Getting A's on the exams is a breeze if you study even a little. He sticks to the book and gives you everything you need.

He is a TERRIBLE teacher!! He expects too much out of his students. Half of my class dropped because he was such a hard grader on tests. The only grades are four exams....

Media Law is a tough course but Professor Senat makes it worthwhile and an interesting learning experience. Many people are afraid of the course but if you go to class, ask questions and do the readings you will be fine. Also, all of the exams are made from previous semester exams so make sure you study those. I actually enjoyed it the class!

A lot people get scared by Media Law, but it's not that bad. Senat is the best professor at OSU. He is engaging, helpful and knows is astoundingly knowledgeable. The best advice I can give is to read the book and engage in discussion during class. Senat's there to help. Overall, the class is really easy if you pay attention.

He lets you know the expectations for the class up front and the grade you received is definitely the grade you earned. He has a sarcastic, funny sense of humor that made the class a bit more fun. It is challenging, but as long as you stay on top of your work you will be fine.

Media Law. This class was scary and awesome. I felt like we were in Dead Poet's Society or something. He was really passionate about the subject and got us involved. It was a great experience. My best college course.

Senat is a tough professor with a sense of humor. Get notes from friends who took it before you (they help A LOT), but if you can't, just fill the study guide out before class so you can do well on the quizzes, take notes and study the law steps verbatim and you will do fine! He gives extra credit sometimes, so GO TO CLASS!!!

Senat has been the best professor I've had at OSU. He doesn't just say the information you need to know, he actually helps you LEARN it. FIND SOMEONE WITH GOOD NOTES FROM THIS CLASS. Do the study guides. Go to class and do your quizzes. Do the practice tests (he uses the same questions) PRACTICE HYPOTHETICALS 24/7! Hard class, but worth the effort.

Senat is a very straightforward, sometimes funny professor. I worried about this class before taking it, but after the fact, it was a really good class. Don't be afraid of Media Law. You learn a lot of interesting stuff and if you read and do the study guides, you'll be fine. Be prepared for class! He WILL call on you.
