John is by far the best history teacher I have ever had. For a pretty dull topic, he makes history fun and exciting, and he also understands the student life and is flexible with time on papers. If you show that you care and participate, you will have a blast. Would take his class again 1000%

There is no textbook so you have to be there for lectures or you will not get any of the material! All tests and quizzes are open answer so there is room for partial credit. His grading seems to get easier as the semester goes on. You'll be reading a ton, so pay attention to when quizzes are and when the papers are due. It sucks getting behind!

This class is co-taught by Baick and Ted South. They're honestly the best together; they make the class fun! As long as you do the readings, you'll pass all of the quizzes. They assign 8 essays but you only have to do 6. They get harder, so do the first 6 instead of waiting. Class participation is a must, everything is discussion based.

I've always hated history but Baick made it interesting. He's really funny and his class was always entertaining. He cares about your learning and will help if you ask him. You really need to pay attention during his lectures to understand the specifics and examples he uses to be able to understand the content. I would definitely take him again.

Amazing professor, always available to his students and goes above and beyond for them. Answers emails hourly and will stay up all night to register students in classes. A great, understanding guy who will absolutely go to bat for his students. Upset i wont be taking anymore of his classes.

Hilarious professor, but you have to really absorb the information to succeed. he help as much as possible, not much homework.. 1 reading a week with a short 1 question quiz (easy if you do the reading)

Baick is a great guy and always seems to make the classroom laugh throughout class However, there are a ton of readings and quizzes almost every class. No tests just a midterm and final. Definitely have to work for your grade and it's not easy class, be prepared to read and know what you're learning so you can get a good grade.

The class is demanding, there is lots of reading and for class he gives a quiz which is two quotes and you have to explain the significance of one. Make sure you READ! As a teacher, he is hilarious. He is sarcastic, makes endless movie references and swears like a sailor. He keeps you awake, and you need to be in order to keep up with him.

Awesome teacher. Used a lot of humor with his teaching methods. Notes are all lectures and written on white board. You need to be awake to keep up as he does not write everything down and talks the entire time. You will not be bored because he is very funny. Very challenging teacher however as he has two exams and quizzes on prior nights reading.

Hes a funny guy but the class is hard! the daily quizzes arent that bad but he grades the quote lists and essays hard. i would recommend him over anzolotti. the midterm was pretty easy but the final was impossible!

Really awesome guy! He ties his lessons in with clips from Top Gun, Ghostbusters, The Chapelle Show, and Jimmy Hendrix's Purple Haze, to name a few. His tests & quizzes are tricky, so make sure you read. He is very sarcastic/cracks a lot of jokes. There isn't too much work, but definitley not a class you can slack off in. It is worth taking!!
