Comment:

Dr Emery is by far the best professor I've had in my economics career. Willing to help, gives great lectures and easy to understand. There are two large assignments (one of which is based on Settlers of Catan) and the final. If you pay attention in class, he gives most of the answers/clues to the homework during his lectures.

Comment:

Emery is a great prof that explains everything clearly. In this course you actually learn useful stuff about Canada that you can discuss with others at a dinner table. His assignments are fairly simple but lengthy(however u get partners). His test are not difficult but if u want a high mark u better know your history in detail. Overall, easy class.

Such a good prof. He knows the course can be boring but he knows how to make it interesting. His assignments(2)tie in the whole course. Emery makes the course relevant to us. Double check grammar on assignments! Take a course with Emery if you can!

Dr. Emery is awesome! He is very interesting, enjoys teaching and is clear about what he expects from students on assignments and tests. His assignments make you do practical stuff and he's always willing to help out on those! DO take a class with him if you can!

BEST ECON PROF AT U OF C! Dr Emery is an amazing professor. He is beyond willing to help you, he even helped me with an assignment for a different Econ class! Dr Emery made the material so entertaining and I found myself laughing daily at the random points he puts on his slides and his hilariously dry sense of humour. Easy is you go to class!!!!

At the beginning very confusing but as time goes by the material gets easier and more repetitive which helps a lot when it comes to the final exam.. the midterm and final are very long and completely written answers which he wants very specific! if you pay attention it is an interesting class.. very much a class on canadian history

A-. As far as econ options go, this one is great. Emery is easy to listen to and I found the material interesting. He wants specific answers, but goes over the material needed in class. Overall the class was great and I recommend it to anyone seeking an Econ option. 2 assignments (15%, one is playing Settlers of Catan) 1 MT (30%) 1 Final (40%)

He was a good teacher and I felt I learned a lot from him. When it came to grades anyone saying it was easy is the type that is happy with a "B." To get an "A" was difficult and his marking on the final was very picky. Its a good class you will learn a lot but it is not a GPA booster.

I am not an economics major, nor did I do well in intro economics but I loved this class because of Dr. Emery. I have never laughed so much in lectures. He ties in current events to show the modern relevance of his topics. He gives lots of tips and hints for exams and assignments in his lectures too.AND he looks like the ex-husband in the REBA show

Emery is a great teacher. This is probably my favorite class this semester and although i do seem to sleep alot in the class Emery's entertaining comments a quite funny, i dont know what is wrong with those of you who dont like it, maybe you should get a sense of humor.

Obviously the same brown-noser left the previous string of praise. jch emery should stick to research because he has little to offer to the real world. Just because his classes are easy, doesn't make him great. I only hope the final is more challenging than the midterm was.

Along with Oxoby and Tracey, Emery is one of the more entertaining econ profs. This is one of those classes where I come home and try to force the material unto my roommates to try and prove to them that Economics isn't the most boring subject you can learn.

Dr. Emery is a great professor. If anyone finds his lectures boring, then they clearly lack the ability to understand subtle sarcasm, as he is an extremely entertaining teacher. His power point slides are also useful if you actually attend class.
