Very easy grader, gives out lots of extra credit. Have a 10 page paper in the class but its not bad at all because he practically gives you all the sources (including primary) that you could need. This guy is one of the best professors ive ever had at MSU

You will NOT find a more fun and entertaining professor who LOVES and CARES about what he is teaching. I had took him for a few classes because I absolutely LOVED his teaching style and his personality in the classroom. He not only is extremely knowledgeable, but he has in-country experience in much of his specialty areas, which is awesome!

He was a very respectable and caring professor. He knows things happen and with the course material he does not want you to be an expert in a semester but to at least grasp the basic concepts - he is very laid back and very informative with great lectures. Pretty chill dude.

Easily, the best history prof I have ever had. He is so knowledgable about history and willing to engage with students. He has clear expectations and wants to help you succeed. The night class was long, but he kept it interesting. Chuchiak is very reasonable and I would take any class by him.

Dr. Chuchiak is the best history professor I've ever had. He is very passionate about what he is teaching, and tries his best to get the students hooked while being real. There is two quizzes, a midterm, final and all online so very easy. There is a huge research paper, but he is willing to help you out in writing it. Would take him again.

Overall, pretty easy class. Only a couple tests/quizzes all on BB so open note/open book. One big paper due at the end of semester with smaller assignments to help with the progression of the paper during the semester. Gives feedback on anything turned in. Super helpful with pointing our sources to use. Would definitely take another class from him.

I had Dr. Chuchiak for the freshmen course. Our section was supposed to be about the Spanish Inquisition but we never had to apply our knowledge (with tests or projects). Didn't feel guilty about sleeping in class. Very few homework assignments, always funny. Never read the textbook (which he supplied to us for free). Lots of guest speakers.

The Prof. is the Latin American History specialist. He is a good teacher but if you are not in the honor students; you may get shorted on attention.

Honors, so there was plenty of work. Nothing difficult, just time consuming. He is an absolute joy to listen to. He really knows his stuff. The only class I actually learned something in this year. The two tests are online and open book. Several small papers and one big one. Quite enjoyable overall.Too bad we skipped two weeks of class for his trip

This class was really hard. Dr. Chuchiak is a great guy and VERY excited about the subject. But, I found it difficult to follow his lectures - he uses powerpoint and the info presented is very detailed - it was hard for me to grasp the main ideas. His lectures felt more like speeches at a conference or something than in a classroom setting.

I took this class as Honors and it was not easy. He is one of my favorite professors because he is always willing to help you succeed, but his exams were brutal and worth a ton of points. He was unorganized with his grading method and due dates. However he is understanding and I would recommend him to anyone!

I thought that the material in the class was really interesting and he knew a lot about the subject he was teaching. He has good stories to go along with the educational material. The assignments and due dates were a little vague at times, but the grading was fair and he gave out a ton of resources where we could find answers or info for papers.

I took a course over the "same material" by another professor and Chuchiak's class was so good he made the other guy look like he taught elementary instead of university. I learned sooo much from him in such detail! The textbooks don't know as much as him. Favorite university professor, no competition.

FABULOUS! I absolutely LOVED this teacher!! he is SOO helpful and really wants everyone to pass, so he basically throws points in your face. If you need help with one of his papers or anything, he will even send you a list of sources on where to find it. Attendance isn't madatory but show up for extra points. Take Powerpoints to class; really helps

Dr. Chuchiak is quite simply the best professor in the history department, if not in the school as a whole. He's the genuine article--you will leave with a wealth of knowledge and an appreciation for the subject matter. If you somehow get through your MSU experience without taking him, you will have missed out on an enigma.
