VERY talented & knowledgable, but can't teach. Not an ideal leader in a learning environment: comes off as absent & busy most of the time, until he randomly cares 1 day (then he's aggressive & impatient). Loves group projects. Find out what his projects are from others, do it @ home & take someone else's class instead. Better use of your money.

Tbh he doesn't teach at all. He only likes students who went or plan on going to his Denmark trip. Sucks but true. Class is sooooo boring that people either don't come or leave early.

I dreaded going to his class. He gave minimal lectures and minimal feedback on the designs. The class was boring and I thought I'd learn so much from him. I wish the project was more exciting and engaging. I wouldn't take hime again.

Worst professor I have taken at CSUF. His syllabus is unclear. Always changes or adds on to project criteria in the middle of a project. He never tells you exactly what he wants before the project begins. Very disorganized and unprofessional. Arrogant when giving you critiques. Purposefully embarrasses you in class when you disagree with him.

Feedback is very blunt, but it's extremely helpful & useful. People in class complained that he was mean, but if he sees that you listen and are actually trying to learn, he's very nice. Rare but good sense of humor. Downside: doesn't respond to e-mails, and lacked specificity when initially giving us assignments, which led to some confusion.

John is a good teacher. He lays out the course clearly, he'll tell you what you need to know, and is willing to tell you again if you are willing to ask for his help. But don't mistake good teacher for easy teacher. He doesn't hesitate to criticize you if you don't make the effort, and his class reveals your shortcomings more than his.

Worst professor I've ever taken in college. This class was based on web design using Adobe Muse, but he does not teach Muse at all. My group and I were forced to learn Muse ourselves through tutorials. So moody, unreasonable, and forgetful. He confuses himself as much as he confuses the class. He doesn't care how much time and effort you put in.

This is not a class intended to teach as much as it filters. Where to draw the line between teaching vs filtering is a question on its own.

One of the worst teachers I've had at CSUF. Very unorganized and unclear. Many times in class, he was answering his cell phone for personal calls. For the final project, he said we didn't have to print out a hard copy. Then on the final critique he gets mad at the students for not printing out hard copies. Avoid taking his class if you can.

By far the best professor I had in college. If you love design and you want to be challenged he is a must take, not for the faint of heart. The design world requires a strong work ethic and acute design knowledge and this professors understands what it takes and will get you to the next level.

Focused on theory and craft, Prof. Drew nails down the 'how and why' that most professors can't explain. It 's going to require a ton of work, which may seem unessisarily arduous. However, in the end you're better as a more efficient and cognizant designer with an industry-ready portfolio.

Not sure how he was before but John isn't a very organized professor and his assignments aren't the best. I feel like his class is more about quantity over quality. He's a nice chill guy and his class is easy but definitely not top notch when it comes to graphic design.

I think the ones that did best in the class didn't have jobs. He sets the A based on whoever did the most amount of homework. The thing is you don't know how much more work someone else is doing. And doing just the homework he assigns is not enough and you will def not pass (even if it's quality work) He prefers to see more work than good work.

He gives out an unreasonable amount of homework, but if you complete it you'll be better for it. He doesn't count attendance towards your grad if you miss a day you'll be far behind. You will learn tons of best practices in the industry. Tip: for his 1st process book it's quantity over quality, so include tons of pics if your missing some layouts.

Prof. Drew was an excellent teacher - the best in the 5 years I was in school. His methodologies will help you if you know whats up, but need that extra push. You will be doing a lot of work in preparation for the "real world". Pay close attention to his "idea generating" methodologies. They will make you look like a creative genius later on. A++++

Its pretty much either hit or miss with John Drew. Hes very grouchy and arrogant, and doesn't seem to care about the development of his students....He talks to you like if you're stupid or something. He gets really annoyed with people who still need to ask him questions after class.Take Theron Moore instead, hes just as tough but is more inspiring.

He's definitely a little intimidating until you get down to the work. He isn't really friendly but he does crack jokes and is more leanant than I thought. He doesn't know anyones name so if you miss class make sure you just turn it all in at the end. over all i learned a ton from him..alot of work though!
