Holte knows what he is talking about but has trouble teaching it. If you go into his office hours he is SUPER helpful so I HIGHLY recommend that. Work in groups and use your book on your homework and you will do alright. His tests are much easier than the homework and you get a notecard! He grades on a curve too which is nice.

Supposed to instantly understand everything. Insanely boring class lecture. I learned more from the textbook in 5 minutes than I did in an entire class period. He's very picky about homework - you can lose points for just about anything. I will probably avoid any future classes with him at all costs because I can't learn from his style of teaching.

This teacher is by far the most pathetic and worst teacher i have ever had during my whole academic career. He is extremely boring, and cannot be skewed from his teaching strategy. He has a very limited mind, and he cannot really think outside of the box in answering questions. Pretty confident he is the worst on this planet.

This professor is very demanding. The homework in the math department is graded by student workers, so you better do the problems right if you expect a good grade. Go in for help if you need to, because it will only get worse. Mastery tests on every chapter... do well on those and study! You have to pass those to do well in the class!

I came into the class with less than impressive skills in algebra and I think a lot of the class was in the same situation. He takes things slowly and he is definitely interested in making the subject matter doable for his students. He is a friendlier older man, always full of smiles. I enjoyed his class even though I came in expecting the worst.

I enjoyed having calc from him. His teaching style is very straight forward and he puts everything you need to know on the board. If you don't have a bad attitude you will learn a lot from him. He is very nice towards his students, very friendly. Easy to talk to. I would recommend him.

If you go in with the mindset of having to work hard and you keep up with the material every day you will do fine in the class. It is a challange at some points, but if you pay attention to lectures, youw ill do fine. He is a cute old prof who deserves more credit than the other ratings on this site.

Awful 'teacher'. Avoids questions. Doesn't grade on understanding of material, but personal bias. When asking outside of class he offers little help and rushes you out. Stares at white board and rarely explains what he is doing. Treats students as if they should know it all beforehand. I'd rather have bought 4 textbooks and saved my tuition money.

Very smart. Unfortunately, he expects you to be as intelligent as well. The book for Calc II is rubbish, there's almost no good examples and the graders for your homework are hard, so don't expect to get pity points. He's helpful if you ask. Holte is a good calc teacher if you are a math or physics major, otherwise you're in for a tough class.

I love math and still do I will just never take another class from him again. Take a class from him if you enjoy watching a prof stand in front of what he is writing on the whiteboard and talking to the board. Very hard to learn anything from him.
