Really nice guy, but not a good professor. He has a very thick accent and doesn't understand questions so he can't explain things more clearly. Office hours don't help much. He gives longgg homeworks and most of the grade comes from the exams. Be prepared to teach yourself the material.

Smart and great guy, bad professor. Explains concepts horribly, doesn't understand questions, makes a lot of mistakes, several times he went through a chapter by doing 1 example and then moving on to the next section, assigns very long homeworks (sometimes taking 8-10 hours) but then only grade completion so you don't know what is right or wrong!

He teaches clearly by relating things from the past calculus to what we are learning now and he is passionate when he teaches. He also made it clear how the grading was going to be done and the first two test are just like the study guide EXCEPT the final (so study harder for that). also the accent isn't a problem after the second week.

Calc 3 would have sucked for me no matter who I took, but I thought Dr. Hou was a fine professor. He's *really* passionate about math, which I liked. He was a very lenient grader (his way of curving). The final was nothing like the review packet. I don't usually have issues with accents but his was tough at first; beware if that's a problem for you

Biggest thing is that he doesn't understand your questions. Alot of my work done for this class was looking up someone else teaching me how to do it. Don't take this professor.

He explains the material clearly and cares about students. Tests are based on the review. If you try hard, you will do very well in his class. He has an accent though.

He has a pretty thick accent, but you can understand him. Math 265 is EASY, but his lectures do not help you at all. Assigns lots of hw. Gives review sheets which are very similar to the tests. You can skip class, but be prepared to teach yourself the course. Math majors should have no trouble with the concepts, but this course is awfully boring.

Sometimes he doesn't understand the questions you ask him which is annoying, you get used to his heavy accent though. He really wants his students to do well and is incredibly smart and passionate about math.

I am warning you, choose any other professor. The only thing he grades are labs and hw for completion which may sound nice, but you don't learn anything. You'll have to teach yourself all the material you need, and it's insanely difficult to do yourself. The rest of the grade consists of 2 exams then the final. You will not understand what he says.

The thing that bothered me was what others have said. He grades hw and labs on completeness so you learn nothing. The book only gave answers for the odd numbered hw but for the even numbered one I didn't know what to do. I asked for help during OH and he said "Oh not many point on exam. No worry". There are 2 exams and the final That's 90% of grade

Impossible to understand, which is crucial for the course material. He'll try to help you, but chances are that you won't understand the majority of what he says. One exam had a class average of 16 percent. This is not the right professor for this course!!!

When the class began, there were at least 30 plus students in the class. Only about 20 remained at the final. Xuezhang Hou's expectations were unreal. He insists everything is "vurry important". When even the Math majors we're struggling with the class, it was a red flag for me. there are so many cultural divides, it's unfortunate. Drop this class

Expects a lot out of his students, but genuinely wants you to pass and learn the material. Gives study before every test which are very similar to test content. Know the study guides and you'll pass.

Great professor! He has a thick accent but you grow into it.He is very excited about teaching and gives you hints as to what'll be on tests if you go to him during office hours/before or after class He also gives study guides that are sometimes exactly like what'll be on the tests.Just show you're interested in the course and he'll see your effort!

VERY enthusiastic but you have absolutely no idea what he's saying because he sounds a bit like Yoda with high to low pitch in his voice. Constantly breaks chalk when writing on the board so hard and there is A LOT of work. Impossible if you have little or no calc experience. DO NOT TAKE!!!

He is very enthusiastic but it doesn't make up for his mistakes and pointless proofs. His accent is pretty easy to get use to and his homework and labs are based on completion. Would've gotten a C or lower if I didn't take the course already in high school. Not terrible but look for better.

He gets confused by himself all the time and sometimes he doesn't even catch his own mistakes so the notes are useless. You get used to his accent but he uses the wrong words all the time. I ended up teaching myself this class. Asking questions is difficult too. Also, his study guides are no longer the same as his tests.

As far as summer classes go this one was my worst, the professor graded the homework based on completion so I got no feedback. When he answered questions the explanation were not understandable. You will spend more time teaching your self, then learning in lecture. If you want to understand Calc 3 do not take this professor.
