A lot of people don't really like J.J. when they first meet him. Once he gets going in the class, you quickly realize that he lives, breathes, and loves everything statistics. He writes his own textbooks and teaches only from those sources. I have been lucky to have J.J. for every statistics class I've had. Maybe you'll be lucky too...

At first I didn't like JJ, but when I had him again I found that he is hilarious and helps you a lot. He will give you old exams personally and he doesn't change them much, just the numbers. Practice doing old midterms fast and you'll ace it. He expects you to practice and do the work. He can be mean, but he is mostly joking. Ended up getting 80s

i hated him and just dropped his class, i couldnt follow what he was doing EVER. maybe hes not an idiot but he is the most horrible teacher ive ever encountered. hes the reason not only high school teachers should go to teachers college

JJ is a tough teacher. He's hard on his students and expects a lot, but the good work habits that he forces his student to adopt pay off in the end. Despite a mean exterior (I've seen him make students cry), he is willing to help if you put the effort in to help yourself.

I did well in this class, but I had to work extremely hard in it. I found the lectures hard to follow, but his course notes were excellent. It just took so much more time, to teach myself the material, as well as doing long assignments. I thought the tests were fair, since if you prepared well enough it was actually possible to get perfect...

Very tough. At one point he said: "All you people who are struggling, just drop the course so the rest of us can move on to more difficult topics". Still, he made the subject enjoyable. And I got into good habits in the course.

I hate stats and he made me enjoy the class. Alot of work but i stayed awake at 8:30...he loves his subject and he'll do whatever he can to help you...always in his office, great for exam/midterm help..awesome

A lot of material a lot of assignments and a lot of work but definitely worth it. Prof is scary at first but if you have concerns he's willing to help. Lectures are made interesting by prof's style. Who knew stats could be so much fun!
